OK, this is driving me nuts. I have three sets of Steam install instructions for Linux and nothing works. I have the tahoma.ttf font in the windows/fonts folder. I have the moxcontrol dll installed. I have run STeamInstall.exe. Everytime I try this I get invisible fonts and a non-functional steam file. When i go to program files there is no steam directory there even after I run the steaminstall completely..

I have tried removing wine and reinstalling it but nothing has changed.. This is really pissing me off.

I have been fighting with wine as well, haven't got anywhere with it.
