Just out of curiosity, what is it about organized religion that you have something against? Is it that it doesn't encourage thinking on their own?

Just curious, not looking for an argument.

Common Sense is something to behold, and something severely lacking in the now. You could always worship Nambla?

Not to shit on your thread, Jim, but shit happens anytime you get a group of people united under one epistemological belief. Not just religion, but anti-religion as well, including fascism of ALL types, not just nazism. And let's not forget the Stalinist USSR. These were far from theocracies, but as far as argument is concerned, their uniting beliefs did as much, if not more damage than many cases of religious terror throughout history. They may as well have been an extremist theocracy

I wasn't going to say anything, but I will now.

There was a psychologist whose name escapes me at 2 am, but nonetheless he did a scale of the thought processes of the human mind in their level of comprehension of life and the such. His results came back that only 1 out of 10 people in his study thought at a level where they questioned why certain laws were legal or to put what is morally right above the function of society. That's right, only 1 out of 10.

So organizations such as this serve a good purpose for many. As one of those 1, Logical, you probably see it as hindering to finding your true self, and consequently the way to be truely right with God, but for those other 9, it serves as a purposeful tool for those who don't bother to question why.

That is truly interesting, if you remember the psychologist name in the future. Please pass it along in a Private Message. I would probably try to find and read some of his work.

Thanks in advance if you do remember.

This study is based off of Kohlberg's levels of Moral Development. There are three levels, each with two stages. According to studies of the theory, most people never reach the third level, postconventional reasoning.
