2007: LJ could be out a while. Possible long term injury?
Consider this a rumor.
Again I'm not saying this is fact but someone who has told me medical "stuff" about Chiefs players in the past and it has turned out to be true told me this.

LJ has a garden variety sprained ankle but thats not worrying the Chiefs or LJ.

They think its his foot thats is the real concern and specifically worst case scenerio Plantar Fasciitis or a pulled ligment in the foot. It happened when LJ tryed to pull on his foot when it was under Hawk and stretched that muscle on the bottom of his foot and in the arch. It could take 3-4 weeks of rest or in rare cases to a year to recover. But until the swelling goes down they won't know for sure.

Again just FYI passing it along.

It didn't really look to me like the bottom of Larry's foot was the part that got injured, BTW. That's where the plantar ligament is. It looked to me like the top and side of Larry's foot got wrenched and twisted, which would mean a sprain or maybe some cartilage got ****ed or something.

Plantar Fasciitis is something that is more chronic and related to long term standing and weight bearing.

It's much more likely that it's a Lis Franc injury. That's the injury that pretty much ended Duce Staley's career, but Kevin Jones only missed a year...but those are Lis Franc Fractures and dislocations

From wiki:

At present, such an injury happens typically when one steps into a hole and the foot twists heavily. Falling from a height of two or three stories can also cause this fracture. American football players commonly get this injury when they have their foot pointing down and someone lands on their heel. There are also other ways of receiving such an injury.

Treatment

Treatment options include operative or non-operative treatment. If the dislocation is less than 2mm, the fracture can be managed with a POP(plaster of Paris) or dynacast for 6 weeks. The patient's injured limb cannot bear weight during this period. For operative treatment, percutaneous screws +/- k-wire will be used for internal fixation of the fracture. Again, the patient's injured limb cannot bear weight. The screws/k-wires must be removed before weight bearing.
