Bored over took me. Draft averages:

I posted this in a thread over on draftplanet, but I didnt think enough people would make fun of me over there, so now I am bringing it here. It took me a little under an hour to do this. It would have taken a lot less time except for I am not bright, and customers interfering with my important work.

so, I got bored sitting at work.

I compiled the latest 21 drafts from this site: http://www.walterfootball.com/draftdata.php

Then I added them all up! One is a repeat site, so I kept it and added another.

Here is what I came up with: (I was going to have a neat spread sheet, but it uploads all ****ed up, sorry.)

The players that appeared in the 21 drafts sampled were: Chris Long (CL); Jake Long (JL); Sedrick Ellis (SE), Glen Dorsey (GD); Vernon Gholston (VG); Darren McFadden (DMC); Matt Ryan (MR); Brian Brohm (BB); Ryan Clady(RC).

Number of appearances in 21 sample drafts:

CL=21 -100%
JL=21 - 100%
SE=2 - 9.53%
GD=17 - 80.95%
VG=4 - 19.05%
DMC=17 - 80.95%
MR=18 - 85.71%
BB=1 - 4.76%
RC=4 - 19.05%

Number of times appearing in each round (out of 21 drafts, or 105 picks possible):
[Name--rd1/rd2/rd3/rd4/rd4]

CL-- 16/4/0/1/0
JL-- 2/7/1/1/10
GD-- 0/6/1/8/2
SE-- 0/1/0/0/1
VG-- 0/2/0/0/2
DMC--0/1/4/11/1
MR-- 3/0/14/0/1
BB-- 0/0/1/0/0
RC-- 0/0/0/0/4

Listed below are the percentages of the round appearances:
[Name--rd1/rd2/rd3/rd4/rd5]

CL-- 76.19%/ 19.05%/ NA/ 4.76%/ NA
JL-- 9.52%/ 33.33%/ 4.76%/ 4.76%/ 47.62%
SE-- NA/ 4.76%/ NA/ NA/ 4.76%
GD-- NA/ 28.57%/ 4.76%/ 38.1%/ 9.52%
VG-- NA/ 9.52%/ NA/ NA/ 9.52%
DMC-- NA/ 4.75%/ 19.05%/ 52.38%/ 4.76%
MR-- 14.29%/ NA/ 66.66%/ NA/ 4.76%
BB-- NA/ NA/ 4.76%/ NA/ NA
RC-- NA/ NA/ NA/ NA/ 19.05%

All these fabulous numbers show that:

Chris Long is by far the consensus #1 pick on worthless mock drafts.
Jake Long is split between us and STL.
Glen Dorsey is a possible Ram or Raider.
Matt Ryan is a Falcon.
MdFadden is a Raider.
Nobody but us on this board like Ellis or Gholston.
The Chiefs are the only team willing to reach on Ryan Clady.

Average mock draft looks like the following (number represents position taken in round 1):
CL- 1
GD/ JL- 2
MR- 3
DMC- 4
JL- 5

There you have it. My weak ass attempt at killing time at work and deciding where people may fall based off of other people's mock drafts! Feel free to correct any of it please!

Based on this, my hope is that we'll get Chris Long, in the 1st round, Glenn Dorsey in the 2nd, Matt Ryan in the 3rd round, McFadden in the 4th, and Jake Long in the 5th. That'd be a heck of a draft.

It's interesting to see Jake Long's position. Are some of these drafts pre-combine, and if so, do we think that Long has moved up since then?

All drafts fall between the dates of 2/26 and 2/28.

I think he is basically where he has been all along. People think that STL needs either DL or OL and we need OL. So the mocks have the Rams taking Long about half the time and us taking either Clady or Brohm or Ryan etc. if Long is gone, and the other half have them taking DL first and us taking Long if they dont.

Yeah, it starts off with Rain Man wanting you do to his stat-work on the BB but the next thing you know it's dry cleaning, taxes, and stealing his bike back from the neighbors...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
