Two draft questions:

1- What is the most current Draft Value Chart? I've seen 3 diiferent charts already.

2- What are our draft positions (#?) through the full 7 rounds.

so we pretty much got the 8th overall pick for Jared Allen...

If Allen were to be drafted this year, taken all of his past years into account, would he be drafted higher than 8th?

I'm thinking yes...probably would be drafted by the Dolphins #1 overall...

Draft value charts (all the same):

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft0...ory?id=2410670

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/fea...aluechart.html

http://www.theredzone.org/2006/draft...valuechart.asp

This one is different, but I wouldn't put much into a "new draft trade chart" by PFT

Are you kidding?

Character concerns would knock him down quite a bit.

He had ONE superstar year, people.

Two of his four years he didn't even break 10 sacks.

He's gone, and as Herm would say, GET OVER IT.

Wow...

I'm on record saying I LIKED the Jared Allen deal...

I'm just saying, the Vikings got a steal...plain and simple. We got the best possible deal we could've hoped for, but they got a steal...

And sure, looking at the stats he has had one superstar year and that is it...but the stats don't tell the story for his 2006...sure he only had 7.5 sacks but he was EASILY our best defensive player and he was very good against the run...better than he was in 2007...

All I was saying was...if Jared Allen was a rookie this year and Bill Parcells got the tape from his first four seasons in KC and knew exactly how Allen would turn out...he'd take him at #1 in a second...do you disagree?

I absolutely disagree.

Just because he was the best player on a shitty defense in 2006 doesn't give him a pass, IMO.

Elite DE's better rack up 12+ sacks a year to be worth this kind of money.

He wasn't even the sack leader on his own team in 2006, and was beat by a rookie.

Add his off the field issues, and there's no way Parcells touches him at #1.

yes indeed!

rep for good timing of a Herm quote!

i think considering other players in KC's past... JA is high on the popularity scale.. that being said i do think people over look the man for the myth. but thats normal as were all Fickle at times....especially regarding KC

Yikes dude...we must not be watching the same games...

Allen is a playmaker...Dwight Freeney can't defend the run like Allen...I'm not saying he's a phenom against the run, but he makes a lot of plays in the backfield and is above average against the run IMO...he's a very well rounded DE...he didn't have any sacks in the 4th quarter for probably a number of reasons, one being most teams were in run mode because we were typically losing...he also batted down a ton of balls at the line...and he's been doing it his entire career...

I'm sure he was among the league leaders in QB hurries in 2006 and if I remember correctly he had a TON of forced fumbles...

No one can persuade me otherwise, Allen is an elite DE in the NFL...maybe even the best. Resigning him to a contract no longer made sense and I am happy with the deal especially after he signed for 31M guaranteed...but if Parcells had his four years of film from KC to look at...I really think he's going #1...shit, look what he got paid...#1 money.

Which is also a big flaw in the NFL...rookies are getting paid more than veterans...but what can you do? You can't do what the NBA does unless you guarantee the contracts because of the short shelf life in the NFL...players need to start signing 2 year contracts and I think they need to be guaranteed...that's really the only way to solve this dillemma...I like to ramble.

In Allen's 10 sack season, didn't he have 3 or 4 of those in one game?
