McGuire: USC's Moala "most overrated player in the country."

I'm liable to agree. I haven't seen much from this guy that's impressive, and I've seen quite a bit as I was watching a lot of Sedrick Ellis and Lawrence Jackson.

2009 NFL Draft Prospects:
Fili Moala Profile

# Fili Moala, 6-4/295

# Defensive Tackle

# USC

Fili Moala's Scouting Report
By Matt McGuire

Strengths: Nice height and solid build with room to gain bulk ... Long arms ... Holds up well against the run ... Strong football player and can disengage ... Decent pass rusher ... Has solid instincts and does a decent job of recognizing play action.

Weaknesses: Athleticism isn't there ... Stiff in the hips and doesn't have much balance or flexibility ... Motor is very inconsistent ... Size is good, but as of now it isn't anything to rave about (must gain more strength) ... Lacks explosion when the ball is snapped ... Production is simply average, especially considering he was on the same line of Lawrence Jackson and Sedrick Ellis ... Unimpressive overall skill set.

Summary: The most overrated player in the country. I can't believe he is in the top five of so many mock drafts right now (including No. 1 on Todd McFraud's) ... The hype is going on because of whom he plays for; not his individual skill ... Production isn't impressive when you consider the talent around him ... Needs to step up.

Player Comparison: Igor Olshansky. Can't play three-technique, but can be an adequate nose tackle in the 4-3; best fit is at five-technique in the 3-4 where he can plug the run going against offense tackles using his size to his advantage.

He's pretty good, but there is no way he should be going anywhere near the no. 1 pick.

He's basically been waiting his turn, that top 5 stuff is all on projection that he'll step in and be what Ellis was.

Cmon Michael Johnson has a top 3 projection and he hasn't even been a full time starter to this point.

This be a mantra on here, KC will probably see Duke Robinson and Herman Johnson in the "cluster" of BPAs too IMO. If KC picks in the 10-15 range.

Guards can be found in later rounds.

If the Chiefs were draft a guard in the top 10, where we all expect them to be drafting, I would throw my remote at your TV.

If one can find an all-pro caliber Guard in the 15-20 spot you take him especially if he's the BPA.

Did I say the 15-20 spot?

I'm pretty sure I said top 10.

Top 10 , if they are coupled in that group yeah I'd take an OG. Get a perennial all-pro on the line, I'd take that

You'd be an idiot to take a guard in the top 10, and would be bordering on idiocy taking one in the top 20.

There is no such thing as a "sure fire" perennial all pro in the draft.

Ther's only potential, and great guards, perennial all pros have been found all over the draft.
