If Mecca is right about the reasons he listed, there shouldn't even be a HoF, imnsho. Derrick was a game changer, period. Yes, there were spots where he was invisible, but Jerry Rice dropped some sure TD catches, too.

I would love to see Gretz's presentation to the voters. I think it's been reported that he never changes it from year-to-year.
You could find it if you look hard enough, I don't know where it is. There was a big controversy the first year he didn't get in, because Dr. Z of SI said the presenter hurt DT's chances... so Gretz took a lot of heat, and posted his entire presentation on the Chiefs website, had a couple columns about it, etc. Plus listed off all the people who participated in the letter campaign, it was an impressive list.

The Chiefs conducted an active letter-writing campaign on Thomas' behalf, including letters from several Hall of Famers and current coaches such as Bill Walsh, Marv Levy, Bill Cowher, Marty Schottenheimer, Mike Shanahan, John Elway, Jim Kelly, Jackie Slater, Marcus Allen and Warren Moon, said Peterson. Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt also sent letters to the voters.

Which is a crock, because the Hall is set up to reward individual players for their achievments.

I know this argument has been used more than a cheap hooker in Tijuana, but how many rings did Marino win? Or Andre Tippet, for that matter?

And right now what hurts is the NFL is on this crusade to put all these old guys in, like Fred Dean.

Cris Carter was eligible this year and didn't get in, you wanna explain to me how that makes sense?

Irvin deserves to be in too, but it's kind of annoying to see guys like Fred Dean going in instead of some of these other guys.

Next year a ton of guys are eligible so DT probably won't get in......watch Darren Woodson get in.
