I never understand why teams do that, if the other team has it inside the 10 on you with a minute left let them score.

If on that first hand off they had just let him go to the endzone, they'd have had about 1:15 to drive the field...

Most players would just run it into the endzone, it's pure reerunation to start calling timeouts to tackle the RB.
