After reading the story, I should add the team I covered did stop shooting 3-pointers after the first half, and stopped pressing at halftime.

Oh look, the press found a convenient villain who we can lash out at with no consequence and who may actually pay a price for a stupid but overall harmless mistake which we know only exactly what the people reporting the story decide to tell us. And who is more deserving of our discerning compassion than the learning challenged who were beaten in basketball game.

Never mind that homeless person you passed on the way to work today who may have fought a war for your freedom. Or the families going homeless because greedy bankers found a way to make money off defaulted loans while our government bails them out with our tax money - or the millions of other real atrocities.

Break out the pitchforks and torches fellow townsfolk and get ready to storm the village, we have found our witch.

Maybe teaching a little human compassion in the course of a high school basketball game would lend itself to those kids growing up to give a shit about someone other than themselves. In some ways, reporting stories like this one might shed some light on why no one in today's society cares about these "real atrocities".

By the way, update on the story is that the school has apologized. They've also canceled the the field trip scheduled for the "light puppies on fire" club.

Chill dude,

Just because there are much worse things doesn't mean we can't talk about the other smaller douchbag stories.
