Think about the positives of Seitzer's 1st year -- did anyone regress at the plate? Jacobs had a bad year, but he has a bad style of play in the first place. DeJesus started off poorly but soon regained form when he returned to the leadoff spot. Gordon and Aviles were both injured. Teahen, I guess, might have taken a slight step back.

Now, has anyone improved? Butler emerged into a star hitter. Callaspo had nearly as good a year at the plate, and he hit way more HR than anyone ever thought he would. Olivo, while still poor, actually improved over the course of the season. He took walks in Sept. That was amazing. Overall, I think that Seitz did a fine job with the talent he was given.

Now Dave Owen? His ass needed to get got.

We still don't know what we have in Seitzer. The fact that Butler emerged this season, whether tied to Seitz or not, earns him another year.

Hillman and the rest must go.

But, of course, the real problem is Dayton Moore.
