Chiefs Are you glad that the Chiefs have dropped to the 5th pick in the draft?

It'll be harder to "reach" and draft a player too high. It'll be easier to trade down.

I'm ALWAYS an advocate of trading down. It seems to me that you get better results with more players drafted slightly lower than less players drafted higher. Maybe I'm wrong. But, this team has many holes to fill.

We couldn't trade down last year. Is there some magical top-5 talent that we can pass on but no one else can that's expecting to be sitting there?

You get more benefit by making the right selections than you do by trading down.

I know I am. That 1-3 position pays too high and is almost impossible to trade out of.

I would never trade the embarrassing on so many levels thumping we put on Dinveer for a draft spot.

EVERY team thinks they made the right selection with their 1st round pick. I think you have a better chance of helping your team with the 10th and 23rd picks, than with the 5th pick. Not in every case, but in most cases. Hindsight is 20/20. But, I'm almost always interested in trading down.

Exactly. At least with the 5th pick there are more options and the threat of a trade.

Eh, I'd rather be at #3, for the shot at Berry.

Plus, it would be nice to have that spot two spots higher in every round. Picking at #3 instead of #5 does have benefits past the first round too...

That said, glad we beat the Broncos yesterday, as I think building confidence and winning some games is very important at this point.

This. God that was beautiful. The other games we won felt more like cripple fights than anything else. This was DOMINATION against our most hated rival in their house that cemented their non-playoff doom. Awesome.

Yep. I'd never take anything away from beating the Cheating Donx soundly in their place and knocking them out of any chance of the playoffs in the process. Plus, the # 5 is easier to trade out of if that becomes a realistic option.

I'm glad we won yesterday and if that means dropping from #3 to #5 in the draft order, so be it. We have a better chance of trading down at #5 than #3. In fact, I think last year's #5 was traded by Cleveland to NY Jets so the Jets could select Mark Sanchez.
