The Yankees and the Red Sox have a rivalry that is built on mutual respect for the opponent. I think the same exists for rivalries like OSU-Michigan, Tex-OK, etc..

There's something different around the KC metro area regarding KU. It's more of a deep rooted hate one side has for the other. It's sociologically very interesting.

I don't think it's really all that different. It's a rivalry. I don't think Sox fans hate the Yankees any less than Missouri fans hate KU fans, and I don't think tehre's any more or less respect involved. OU fans hate UT just as much as Mizzou hates KU. I don't know why you're suprised that Missouri fans or K State fans crack on KU on the radio or message boards. First of all, it's probably funny for them to see KU fans get so emotional about it, like kicking over an anthill. Secondly, it's not like KU fans don't call in shows or post on message boards talking junk. You make it seem like KU fans are just sitting there minding their own business, just waving little KU flags and saying, "Let's go! May the best team win!" It's a two way street.

I just said I thought MU would win a BCS bowl someday in another thread and KCMizzou went on to insult me. So I don't really agree with you 100% but I see your point.

Now see, I thought you had said that as sarcasm, seeing as how you all won that Orange Bowl you managed to back your way into.

Not sure how you "back into something" when you're 11-1.

Besides, had KU lost that game you would have a point. But they didn't. And it went down as the greatest moment in KU Football history.

No, it wasn't sarcasm. But it's going to be difficult for MU after moving to playing Tex and OK every year, as it will for KU.

Really, luv? This coming from you?

2006 KcChiefs (9-7) - that was backing into the playoffs. And their performance against the Colts proved that.

2007 Kansas Jayhawks (11-1) - that was earned. Although I agree that MU by virtue of beating KU was slightly more deserving, that is not always the way that works.

But make no mistake, KU did everything they needed to do to become BCS eligible. At that point its up to the bowls to pick which teams they want within their guidelines. So let's stop with the revisionist history bullshit. Mmmmkay.

And lastly, KU proved they deserved to be there by winning it.

What coming from me? I've never claimed to be anything but an MU football fan, even if I learned late not to root for two schools in different sports. Yes, KU deserved the opportunity, but I think MU got jipped. I've talked to KU football fans around here who have agreed.

I said you were no Como! That's a compliment!

(I also said you were silly, and a easy target. I stand by that.)

This is very true. All teams have fans that do this. Unfortunately, it makes it hard on the fans that don't get all into the trash talking BS.

Well this rivalry wasn't built on mutual respect. This stems back to your people killing Josey Wales' family. You'll learn about it when you get to high school.
