***Official Chiefs Visit/Workout/Met Thread***
It stands to reason that we will select players that we have met with, hosted for a visit, and/or had them work out for us. Why would you draft someone without setting up a meeting or talking with them? Obviously we won't be able to track phone calls, private meetings, etc... but we may as well list what we do know.
I know that ArrowheadPride keeps a really solid list in table format, but I haven't seen it updated since January. I figured we could start compiling that info here as well, even if its just borrowed from other websites like AP and PFT, among others. I will edit this post when someone posts updated info. PFT's list: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...kouts-tracker/ Kansas City Chiefs as of 4/16/11

Wilkerson, Ballard & Jordan. Maybe a smokescreen. Maybe KC isn't too happy with TJax.

Baylor DT Phil Taylor Works Out For KC Chiefs I figured the Kansas City Chiefs would do this. According to Aaron Wilson of National Football Post, Baylor DT Phil Taylor worked out for the Chiefs, as well as the Cleveland Browns and another AFC playoff team (New England is my guess if they're trying to keep it quiet). Taylor has six visits and five private workouts to this point. Taylor is one of several nose tackles the Chiefs have checked out in the pre-draft process. We're not sure if they're prepared to pull the trigger on one at No. 21 but, if they do, Taylor will be an option. He's 6'3" and 334 pounds coming off of what was a solid pro day according to many accounts. We don't know Ron Edwards future with the Chiefs but he is not under contract for 2011. I felt that Edwards would be fine on the line for another year if the Chiefs decided against drafting the nose tackle of the future in April. We'll see what happens there. It's one of the bigger question marks on this Chiefs team right now. A few years ago, GM Scott Pioli was with the Patriots and used the 21st pick on a talented nose tackle out of Miami. The pick ended up being an OK one as the guy went to three Pro Bowls (so far). |

I'd bring in Yates as an UDFA.

There's a ton of players I'd be perfectly happy with at 21. This is a good spot to be in in this draft.

Anybody want to do the legwork of finding out how many of last year's draft picks had private workouts with the Chiefs?

Im fine if that happens. Im not always for moving down in a draft to add future picks, but if we can move down to the end of the round or even the beginning of the second and pick up a second next year that would be alright too...similar talent that is available at 21 will likely be still available then. |

I really like Jah Reid as a right tackle for the Chiefs maybe in the 4th or 5th round. The only problem I see with him - "He's a Right Tackle". I'd prefer the Chiefs picked a guy that could play either side. If Albert goes down, we are in trouble, so we need someone that can play either.
Back to Jah Reid. Watch video of him from this last year at UCF and I think you will come away impressed. He's big and strong and moves his man all over the field. He does not give up on his blocks and let his man come back into the play. He locks on and finishes his blocks. I've seen him get beaten a couple of times with speed rushers but that can happen with such a big man as Jah Reid. Anyway there's a lot of video out there on UCF. Go out and look at some. Watch for #76 on the right side of the offensive line. Also looked good in the Shrine game if you can find some video of it from this year. |

The last part of the Jah Reid video shows some of the East West Shrine Bowl.
Reid was also one of the team captains for UCF. Different side of the offensive line, but he reminds me some of Sebastian Vollmer from the 2009 draft. They are both huge men that use their size and strength well. I'm sure he would go higher in the draft if he had played on the left side. If Barry Richardson could back up on the left and right side, maybe the Chiefs would be OK with drafting Jah Reid. |
