I'm actually sitting in our Student Center waiting for my 11:30 class.
Taking a 3000 level History course and Contemporary Math - level below College Algebra -highest level math I need for my degree. Sitting with A's in both with a week to go. |

If it involves contemporary math and a 3000 level history course, it's probably something with a bad job market.
I'm thinking history or international studies or something like that.

I hope you find a job. Are things better for secondary education, or is it dismal across the board?

Now, even the big districts are cutting. I have a huge advantage - I'm doing my internship and student teaching at the HS I graduated from. I still have a ton of contacts there and within the district, and it's one of the best in the state. The district takes care of their own, so to speak. So basically, I'm looking at this as a year-long job interview. Build a good relationship with those in the building that don't know me, and hope for the best. Just a matter of a position being available. Good thing for me is that I've heard of a lot of History, Civics, Psych, etc teachers saying this is their last year. Worst case scenario is that I at least have a college degree. I have a lot of contacts that could get me a corporate training job if need be. Just going to work hard, and hope for the best. |
