Haley made some goofy decisions, the onside kick was stupid, but it would have been brilliant had it worked. Not to challenge the touching by a Chief was also stupid. If you are going all in, go all in. Not going for it on NE side of the field, also stupid.
The Chiefs were fired up and ready to play, and as soon as they realized Palko was Cassel2, they were ****ed. BB made some great halftime adjustments as always. That Polish TE should be banned from football, it isn't fair. |

Gronk is a beast, no question. Fun to watch. He wasn't highlighted last night, and is always dinged up, but when our other young TE, Aaron Hernandez, is going well, he's pretty damn good too.

We actually did a decent job on your weapons when you know....we actually covered them. There were some dumb mistakes in coverage that allowed some big plays, like the TD to Gronkowski. Other than that, they did ok covering the two beast TEs and Welker. I expected Welker to have 12 catches, 236 yards, and 3 TDs. I guess the score made the game seem worse than it was, because it could have been much much much worse imo.

As I said in the other thread, the defense is too dinged up to cover everybody. They keyed in on Welker and it was only a matter of time before somebody else burned us.

I couldn't believe he got up from landing on his head like that. Is he and Hernandez some of the bad BB draft picks we have been hearing about? |

Here is a final thought.
If NE is going to pass for TDs within 1 minute of the end of the game up by 3td's, they deserve it when Brady gets his legs snapped off. |

The Patriots ran the ball 12 times on that last drive, and only had 3 passes, one on a 2nd and 9 and two on 3rd down. Meanwhile, the Chiefs were calling timeouts during the drive, despite the 27-3 score, which resulted in the Patriots being unable to kneel on the ball to end the game. Why bitch about a pass on 3rd down?

Haley was calling timeouts for whatever reason. Pretty mixed bag there. But I would not have thrown once that drive. Nor would I have Brady sneak it.

I think if Haley hadn't called the two timeouts, Belichick doesn't get pissy and throw for it on 3rd and goal. But, yeah, it was pretty bush-league to throw. And, frankly, Brady should've been out as soon as the Chiefs turned it over on downs with around 6:00 to go. Belichick has done that all the time over the past 10 years (leaving Brady in when they have a big lead) and it drives me crazy.

1. Haley's decision to NOT go for it on 4th down and 1 from the Pats ~40 made no sense to me. Even though he punted and the defense held and the Chiefs got the ball back, it seems to me that you're 4-5 and the season is slipping away. Pats defense isn't reminding anyone of the 2000 Ravens or '86 Giants. Go for it.
2. I liked the decision to do the onsides kick. But then you remember they didn't go for it on 4th and 1. Que? ** CLASSIC HALEY. GAME DAY DECISIONS ARE MIND BOGGLING. ** 5. Palko doesn't seem like the real deal. He's young yet, so maybe, but... ** THERE IS NO 'BUT' ABOUT IT. HE DOESN'T HAVE AN NFL ARM. HE SHOULDN'T BE ON AN NFL ROSTER. MAYBE HE'LL MAKE A GOOD COACH ONE DAY, THAT'S IT. ** 6. Don't worry about the Chiefs seeming inability to cover Gronk. Nobody can. He's just a beast. ** KC CAN'T COVER TE'S PERIOD. IT ISN'T ANYTHING SPECIAL ABOUT GRONKOWSKI. THEY MAKE AVERAGE TE'S SPORTSCENTER HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK. ** 7. Chiefs defense seemed pretty good, overall. I imagine ti will be much better when Berry is back. ** HONESTLY, THE FIRST HALF OF THE GAME WAS THE FIRST TIME THEY WERE ABLE TO GENERATE A PASS RUSH ALL YEAR. I DON'T KNOW WHO GAVE CRENNELL HAPPY PILLS, BUT IT WAS NICE TO SEE AFTER 10 WEEKS OF CRAP. THEY STILL COULDN'T STOP THE RUN IN THE 2ND HALF, BUT ITS NOT LIKE THEY HAVE TWO TOP 5 DRAFT PICKS ON THE DL TO ADDRESS THAT. ** 9. Running up the score -- I don't mind Belichick going for it on 4th down late near the end zone. ** NO PROBLEM WITH IT SINCE KC WAS CALLING TO'S EARLIER IN THE DRIVE. ** 10. Alot of very sad posts in the game thread about trying to hurt Patriots players now that the score is out of control. WTF kind of Raiders-esque thinking is that by Chiefs fans? And if any of them is a parent, WTF kind of sportsmanship is that? ** YOU KEEP YOUR STARTING QB I IN A BLOWOUT GAME, THROWING THE BALL LATE IN THE GAME WHILE YOUR TEAM IS TAKING CHEAPSHOTS, THEN YOU RUN THE RISK. SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE KNOCKED HIM ON HIS ASS. **

At first, it was kind of cool, we had a coach that would gamble some. Now it is turned into pressing stupidity.

Agreed. It makes no sense why they wouldn't put the backup in at that time. |
