Dansby sees God working through Tebow

Many athletes who believe in God believe that God has a hand in their on-field exploits. Many athletes and non-athletes who believe in God believe that’s a lot of bunk, because it implies that God for whatever reason wants to make the opponents lose and/or look foolish.

As I said in the very first item I ever wrote about football for an Internet-based publication, God has far bigger things to worry about than who wins and loses sporting events.

But I respect the opinions of those who believe otherwise. And Dolphins linebacker Karlos Dansby believes that God is working through Tim Tebow.

Dansby, whose Dolphins were the first victims of Tebowmania, told Jim Rome today that he and other members of the team saw Godliness in Tebow’s stunning comeback from a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

“Us losing to Tim Tebow the way we did, we seen it first hand,” Dansby said on Rome’s radio show. “Young man is blessed. Young man has a special anointing on him. And for God to show himself in that game the way He did, through the guy He did it through, it opened a lot of guys’ eyes on our team. And it brought a lot of guys closer to God, so like I said, everything happens for a reason. . . . My hat goes off to Tim. And God working through him like that, it opened up a lot of eyes. He’s a blessed young man and I wish him much success the rest of his career.”

If guys truly believe that, Tebow will be a magnet for certain free agents. If they believe God is working through Tebow and if that means God will be helping his team win games, why wouldn’t they want to play with Tebow?

Squeaky clean? What, do you shower with him, Mr. Sandusky?

Over exposure. People get sick of hearing about him.

A lot of people see their religion & charity as a private affair
& sharing it in public as obnoxious & distasteful
That's three ampersands, so this is serious shit

That being said, faith is real. I have seen it in my daily life. My young children have "faith" in me to act in their best interests because they know that I love them unconditionally. My wife, who is going through an extremely difficult time in her life right now, has "faith" in me to make decisions for her when she can't. Because she knows that I love her and always will. My boss and my coworkers have "faith" in me to get the job done. They rely on me. They expect me to do my job at a high level of competency because they know that my work ethic, in part, defines who I am.

Right now the Broncos players have "faith" in Tim Tebow. The religious ones see the power of Christ in his daily life. They share a belief system and they know he is committed to it. The non religious ones respect Tebow's beliefs because they know that Tebow's religious views, in part, define who he is. It's not fake. That's who he really is.

So...no. I don't see God working through Tebow. I see the power of the human spirit and it is an awesome thing.

I'm sure he would be villianized by some. Maybe even a majority. I personally don't give a shit if he worships pumpkins, as long as his pumpkin belief fuels his mojo and his team mates buy into it.

God, in his mercy, cares about everything and everybody.

He is the Creator of all things, large and small. He made the great, mysterious Universe and the tiny, little gnats the buzz around your face when you are working on your shrubberies that irritate the living hell out of you and you can't kill because you can't even see the damn things and besides He made about 100 billion of the little bastards things and they must breed like itsy, bitsy, flying rabbits.

So, of course he cares about football. That's why when the Hunts sold their soul to the Devil back in the early days of the oil fields, He decided to send one of them to Kansas City to punk our asses.
