i find it ONLY WORKS if you really mean it.
The problem is that you can't really mean it if it's a ploy. it's similar to the problem about finding a girl when you NEED a girl. It's always easier to get a chick when you already have one because you truly act different. You have to really move on ... REALLY,REALLY move on, or it's just fake and it won't work.
