22 million people saw thwm. On the surface it would be a great use of their time towards marketing their upcoming tour. But, how many of those 22 million that were waching Dancing with the Stars would buy $150 KISS tour tickets?

They have been dressing up other dudes as Ace and Peter for awhile now. Unlike when they originally left the band and created new characters.
KISS actually does put on a good live show with the real lineup. I can't stand the money grubbing whore Gene Simmons. He's an awful human being. |

It really is amazing how times change and they are considered "mainstream safe" now appearing on shows like DWTS.

Definitely different than what you'd expect from a member of Kiss, but its still good, old time rock & roll... Bob Seger, Wilson Pickett... that kinda stuff. |

I haven't listened to it in around 20 years. I might have to find it on CD.

I really appreciate Gene Simmons' business savvy. I find Paul Stanely annoying though. I wasn't a big fan of KISS when they were really big with my friends in Junior High School, but they had some big, catchy hits that still sound pretty good to my ear now. I did see them live in the 90s when they weren't wearing makeup and they put on a really good show. I thought that DWTS performance was pretty good.

From a marketing perspective yes he is. This band back in the early to mid-70's were waaaaaaay ahead of their time when it came to marketing themselves.
But they had to be with their make-up, stage show and all the paraphenalia they sold because it took the average fan's attention off their lack of musical talent and music which was mediocre at best now looking back. Don't get me wrong I was a huge fan but when you put them musically up against their peers at the time it was not even close. IMHO, their 1st live album was the best out of all their albums because not only did you feel like you were there at the concert but it was their raw collection of music that hadn't been commercialized yet, unlike when the Detroit Rock City album came out and beyond. Their other live albums when you listened to them felt like you were sitting in the nose bleed seats and not enjoyable to listen to at all. And then when the band lost Criss and Frehley that's when I quit being a fan. Just raw old school for me I guess ![]() |

You are correct. It was Stanley and Simmons who started the band.
