haha I get that question a lot since im a San Diego native.
My love for the Chiefs started because of my hate for some old, fat hepatitis carrying yellow bitch. I was maybe 8 years old-ish, can't remember. Never really paid attention to football or anything and didn't even know the Chargers existed. Anyhow she was a big 9ers fan and it was the year that Montana joined the Chiefs and played against the 9ers. She was all bitchy and mad because Montana was Chief blah blah blah. I watched and rooted for the Chiefs because I hated her. Chiefs kicked their ass and a new fan was born.
