Here's why: An ad is a whole page of text and facts. If picked up by national media (it most certainly would); the ad itself serves as the press release for which the reporters will base their stories on. These stories will be put online, and links will be sent and it will go viral that way. A billboard, if the story is picked up, makes for a cool image, with a short, yet blunt message. The reporters will be left to create their own opinions and I think the message will be lost when communicated to the masses. I think that blunt image was already communicated via the airplane banner. The detailed ad is a different approach, with a different angle.
