He's right about Daboll. Freeman was throwing deep with success on covered routes and we were afraid to design anything more than a 7 yard pass. It was the same playbook as they used for Cassell (a QB whose accuracy extends no more than 7 yards).
If Quinn had thrown deep, who knows what Baldwin or Bowe could have pulled out. There was one deep throw to Baldwin that he mis-timed; but otherwise, there was no deep threat. Any defense will look great when they know you plan to run the ball and just do short passes. It showed.
