49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Considering our choices for the #1 pick are corner and 3-4 DE, trading the #1 pick for Smith would almost have been a smarter choice than what they did. Two positions that can be had at second round money instead of first overall.

I liked the Reid hire for one reason: his ability to coach up the QB position. One of the reasons I thought he took this job was because he'd have his QB of choice at the top of the draft that he could groom into a franchise signal caller, and, building upon that QB and the defensive talent we have, turn this team into a perennial contender in spite of his terrible gameday coaching (and it is terrible).

I liked the Dorsey hire because he appeared to come from an organization that values the importance of drafted and developed QBs.

I personally wanted Chip Kelly because I view him as an innovator in a stagnant league. A guy who is playing chess while the other guys play checkers.

It turns out that based upon the way in which our FO cornered itself, we were the sap playing Three Card Monte while the rest of the league is playing checkers.

I'm "meh" on the Reid hire. I liken this team to 1988 team, where there's a lot of talent that was coached poorly and play well below their ability.

I think that Clark Hunt, much like his father in 1989, plucked the best and most successful coach available in Andy Reid. But Reid, unlike Marty, is coming off of some down years and didn't leave on a good note. I'm shocked that he's actually coaching this season because I would have assumed he'd take time off due to the recent death of his son.

On one hand, I'd like to think that the Chiefs now have one of the best offensive minds in the NFL and one of the best quarterback talent evaluators and developers of QB talent. On the other hand, it's possible that they hired a guy that's burned out but doesn't know it yet.

As for Dorsey, it's impossible to judge at this point. The only move that we as Chiefs fans are aware of is this trade for Alex Smith. After being a part of a Green Bay organization that continuously drafted QB's, developed them and shipped them off for picks, this move is somewhat curious.

I'm excited to see what happens in the 2013 draft. Hopefully, he's a John Schneider type of guy that learned a shit ton while in Green Bay and not a Scott Pioli.

Dude, there's plenty of time to re-sign or Franchise Bowe and there are plenty of options in free agency to replace Albert, if he's not franchised or signed long term.

It's silly to pass judgment until moves have actually been made official.

We had the worst Quaterback play in the nfl maybe besides the Cardinals. We have no choice but to use assets to upgrade the weakest link on our team. If you think we aren't going to draft and develop a QB your foolin yourself I don't beleive Andy Reid is that stupid same thing for Dorsey. I think A.Smith is just a solid veteran presence to upgrade the position he will not start for a full 2 years I think year one while we develop are young guy to step in. My hope is EJ Manuel I think he fits the new current type of QB's, but giving up picks isn't great but A.Smith will have a bigger impact on our team than the 34th pick this year. He will bring a winning attitude that we need at that position and NO A.Smith isn't a HOF'er or long term answer but he is a solid short term solution.

I disagree with this statement.

While Alex Smith is most certainly not "Elite" or a "Franchise QB", he's better than average. He's far better than Cassel and he's better than Kyle Orton.

Orton won games for the Chiefs without Berry, Moeaki and Charles, with the support of the worst coaching staff in all of football.

Alex Smith won't likely win a Super Bowl for the Chiefs, but unless he falls off a cliff on the way to KC, he's markedly better than Cassel.
