My philosophy is diametrically opposite of that. He's a turd. It's a fact. Acknowledge that and be prepared for the team to go nowhere for the next 5 years. That way you can only be pleasantly surprised. Don't waste energy wishing for a miracle. You know what you got, there's no point in hoping things will be magically better. You'll only get your hopes crushed later.

No, Im not hoping for anything. Im just choosing not to be miserable over something I cant control before anything truly bad happens. Ill just sit back, and give him a chance, instead of running around crying about the sky falling. Then when or if he fails us, Ill be miserable. If he doesnt, then Ill be stoked. Until then, Ill just be chill...

I'm not miserable about it. I'm resigned to it. This is 2009 all over again. He's a slightly closer-to-league-average version of Matt Cassel. That's all he'll ever be. This is a bad, bad move, and there's no other way of looking at it. Alex Smith is a game manager who needs to lean on a team that runs the ball 550 times a year.

It's amazing to me, but the guy's been gone for almost 15 years, and we still haven't purged Martyocrity from this franchise. This is a total Schottenchoker move.

At least it'll be entertaining if Andy Reid tries to put AS at the helm of a pass happy offense. Should go nuclear in an epic way.

I think I stopped having emotional reactions to chiefs moves about 8 years ago.

Well, aside from laughter that they continue to make moves that are this silly. So I guess I get some humor out of them.

Deep down you know as far as your football team goes, you know that this is a ****ing disaster. It has nothing to do with controlling of emotions or the team putting you in a bad mood ect ect.

Exactly. That's the only thing that will be worth watching the season; the complete ineptitude that will ensue when Smith has to try and win games. The circus should be somewhat entertaining, for a few games at least.

This. Dorsey and Reid got my hopes up for a bit and there's still the draft, I suppose, but I'm fully preparing for a boring passing game and mediocrity. I still watched last year knowing full well we were ****ed going in with just cassel and quinn, so I'm sure I'll watch this year as well. And sure, there's an outside chance it might be interesting, but I'm not going to go in pretending a honda civic is going to turn into a ferrari randomly.

I don't get how some people will willingly spend their time and money on a team that's not devoted to winning. What's the point of even paying attention if you know the team has absolutely no shot of doing shit before the season even starts? That's what people are pissed about.

I havent spent a dime on this team in 2 years. I use to get a new jersey every offseason but havent in years. And if Pioli was still around, I would be continuing that trend. However, I think its clear these guys want to win, they just happen to be doing something, WE'VE seen before. But they didnt do it here. And Im sure they arent going, "OMG we cant do that, Pioli did that. Who cares if we think the QBs suck ass in the draft, the fanbase will be pissed because they've read this book before!! We better draft a QB at #1 even though in our professional opinions it isnt smart, but the fanbase Thinks differentl So we better do it or theyll think we arent trying to win"
