I was on board with Geno but the whole at least we'd have tried mantra I am not. I'm on board with getting it right. Trying and losing equals losing. So don't draft me a bust QB with the 1.1 and tell me at least you tried. Is Alex Smith getting it right? If he's not then I won't be happy. Does that matter? Not really.

This franchise has been nearly as inconsistent as the Atlanta Falcons before Arthur Blank and Thomas Dimitroff. They win, they lose for years on end, then win again, then lose for a better part of a decade. If Reid and Dorsey can provide some stability and manage to right this ship, they'll draft a QB early and develop him. But you can't just take a shit franchise, draft a QB in a down year, and expect everyone to just sit around and wait for something to happen. Look, if the Chiefs were passing on a Matt Stafford or an Andrew Luck or an RGIII or an Eli Manning or someone that nearly everyone in the known universe believes in, I'd be pissed. But Geno Smith? Right or wrong, Geno Smith isn't going to generate fan interest, especially if, as many people have suggested, he could use a year on the bench to percolate. |

I would argue that Geno would generate fan interest, purely form being the 1st overall pick and the calamity that would occur as well as the (totally stereotyping here) interest black, casual fansl |
