Jason Cole expects Chiefs to trade Albert for pick in '14

Branden Albert - T - Chiefs
Yahoo Sports' Jason Cole expects the Chiefs to end up trading Branden Albert for a second-round pick in 2014.
Cole mentions the Lions, Chargers, and Cardinals as teams that remain left tackle-needy after the draft and might be interested in Albert. The Lions would make a lot of sense because internally they have major questions about Riley Reiff's viability at tackle and prefer him at guard. The Dolphins could also jump back into the bidding. Although the Albert-to-Miami draft-week trade fell through, the sides had agreed to parameters of a long-term contract.

Because next years draft will be better hopefully. Stockpile picks next year.

I'd ask for more than a 2nd next year. 2nd and 4th maybe.

If not, I'd just keep him, play him at LT and see how it goes.

Giving up Albert for a pick next year instead of using him this year then trying to get something for him would be asinine.

GM's and Coaches alike are on short leashes today, whether you want to admit it or not
I'm laughing because you're an irrational moron. Dorsey and Reid are here for at least the duration of their contracts.

Forgive me for wanting to see actual games before I make ridiculous claims like nail in the coffin.

The intention has been to get compensation for Albert. Why are you going to tag him again at a 20% increase? Take the 2 now and be rid of a guy who doesn't want to be here.

No Gm ever was put on a short leash 3 months into the job.

correct

a pick this year is worth more than one next year

also, if we trade him this year, the team gets his performance immediately while we have to wait to capitalize on the pick ("I will gladly pay you tuesday...")

This.

It makes no sense to trade him at this point to make another team better while we gain nothing except an unknown draft pick next year.

This is just my speculation but I think after Miami traded the first 2, that they didn't offer the 2nd one again.

Pfft. Scott Pioli got 4 ****ing years. You think Dorsey and Reid are going to get less than that? They'll be here for a long, long time.

Next years class appears to be top heavy, so it would be great to have an additional pick if we needed to trade up for someone. But I don't know anything at this point about the 2nd rounders so I won't get into that.

But if the guy doesn't want to be here, we should have just accepted the 54th pick and went on about our business.

nonsense

this year's second had a ton of talent

and we're supposedly in win now mode, hence the smith trade...so denying him a quality starter this year is ridiculous

we lost value when Miami called our bluff

The only other logical thing would be take the comp 3 and let him walk after this year. Franchising him would be dumb.

Knowing they were probably going to take Fisher at 1, they might have gotten a bit greedy in what they wanted for Albert.

Yeah, no way you franchise him again. Either let him walk or sign him to a deal to play wherever. If he sets the world a blaze at LT this year and Fisher is great at RT, just re up Albert and move on I guess.

Dolphins need Albert. They have to give up more to get him.

Get a 2nd + 3rd or 4th from Miami, then package our 1st, both 2nds and that 3rd/4th from Miami to draft Teddy Bridgewater.

PROFIT
