2011 traded a 1st and 2nd round pick for Carson Palmer
2011 gave a 3rd round pick in supplemental draft for Pryor

2013 traded Palmer to Arizona for a swap of 6th and 7th round picks, in other words, nothing.

2013 traded for Matt Flynn giving up a 5th and a conditional pick later.

2013 drafted Tyler Wilson in the 4th round and cut him.

Flynn loses starting job to Pryor.

So far I think Oakland has used a 1st a 2nd a 3rd a 4th and a 5th round draft pick the last 3 years to end up with Pryor and Flynn at QB and everything I have read neither have any chance of being a quality NFL starter.

But hey they 'tried" right?

They should have got a backup from NE and signed him to a multi year contract.

Why? You can just trade for a guy in Flynn that got beat out last season by Russell Wilson.

Now there is no shame in that.

BUT PRYOR?

This franchise was set back a few years, but hey, at least we won a few games with our retread. The Raiders have just been a colossal joke.

yes, they tried the True Fan way

trade for a vet - check (alex smith)
trade for a backup - check (matt cassel)
don't draft a first round QB - check (Chiefs)

same as the Chiefs, with the same results

good thing they avoided risk though...remember, failure is ok as long as you avoid risk /chiefs fans

Lineman bust as well but it doesn't seem to matter. Trezzlle Jenkins, Brian Joziwak. Lets keep drafting OL and DL. That's how you win in football.

That is how you win in football. You can have a great QB, but without OL and DL, you're basically counting on getting hot for a period of time to win it all. When New England's strength was their defense, they won 3 Superbowl's, since they've decided to play homerun ball, they haven't won shit. Matthew Stafford of the Lions is a pretty good QB, but they've got a mediocre OL and a mediocre, overrated DL, they aren't going anywhere.

I think all the facets are important to have. Giants have Eli, but without their dominating DL, they wouldn't have won shit. The one area I think teams can kind of cut corners on is the secondary, if you can generate a consistent pass rush and have depth along the DL, you can get by with lesser players in the secondary, much like the Giants did, but if you're strong alone the lines of scrimmage, realistically you're always in the game.
