Like I said, at least Mozgov's deal will get progressively less shitty. Parson's would actually get worse.
Grizz trying to woo Parsons as well, I assume matching the max. I suspect Conley said he'd only re-sign if they make another move to get better. Not sure Parsons is it, but he does fill a need and I'm not sure what else is out there. Regardless, Grizz aren't winning a ring with our without those 2 guys.

Lakers are essentially the Raiders from a few years ago, before they started drafting well. Can't get a good FA to come there, even with all that money.

They need Ingram to become a star.

Noah getting 4/72 from the Knicks is worse than Mozgov's contract.

Again, don't have an idiot son named Jimmy take the reigns of an NBA franchise.

It depends on what version of Mozgov you get. The 2015-2016 version recovering from knee surgery looked really, really, really bad. Maybe he can recover his old form in which case he's an overpaid, but okay player.

You guys need to stop looking at the $$ of these contracts, as it was always going to be inflated. These moves can only be judged based on whether or not the team gets better. The money means nothing right now.

Well the Lakers suck so even Mozgov makes them better.

That ain't saying much.

My problem with Mozgov isn't the $$, it's the term. He's 30 years old with a 'failed' knee surgery on his resume. He's going to get real bad, real fast. And there will be a new crop of FAs every year. That $16 million won't matter this year because there was nobody that was willing to take the Lakers money right now.

But next year? The year after? As Russell, Ingram, Randolph and Clarkson gel behind Walton (and I think all of them will show significant improvement over the next 2 years), the Lakers could become a nice place to look again.

But alas, we'll have $16 million tied up in this slug through 2020. That sucks any way you look at it.

I'd have rather brought Hibbert back on a 1-year deal and Hibbert is an absolute piece of shit. At least Hibbert would be off the books again next year and we could go again enter FA with a nice cap situation.

I'm sure that will quickly be followed by Conley announcing he'll re-sign with the Grizz. Good team, but not Championship caliber.

Some reports now that the Mozgov deal is actually 3/$48 with a team option. That's actually pretty palatable, then.

The Lakers don't have anyone up next year so it won't interfere with their 2017/18 salary structure and in the third year, you could always move that deal to a team as an expiring (with them declining the 4th year option).

And if the cap keeps going up 20%/yr, even the team option might be palatable.

Still not a good player, but the deal appears to not be quite the albatross it looked at at first glance, especially not with Parsons getting the max and rumors are that even Bazemore is looking at a deal at/near the max.

Bottom line is that NBA contracts are going to be ****ing nuts this year - period.

I was about to answer your question about the worst contract. Delly gets almost $10 million a year for being one of the shittest players I have ever seen.

Holy ****...someone guaranteed that dude almost $40 million?

Yeah, that's worse than Mozgov. At least Mozgov is big and was in pretty high demand before his cyst issue last year. Dellavadova is just a piece of shit and should give LeBron...I dunno....all of that. Seriously, he's out of the league if he's not playing on the Cavs with James.

The Bucks did

4:34 p.m. ET: Restricted free agent Matthew Dellavedova has agreed to a four-year, $38.4 million deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, a source told ESPN's Jeff Goodman. The Bucks are confident the Cavs will not match the offer sheet, sources said. The Cavaliers have three days to do so once the offer sheet is signed. July 7 is the first day free agents may sign deals.

I really like Delly. But that is highway robbery. Thanks God the Cavs won the championship last year. Be not much hope with these insane contracts

That's pretty great news for the Wolves, I think. There aren't many good point guards on the market, and as soon as Conley re-signs and Lin and a few other deals get finalized, the Wolves are going to be left holding onto a starting PG that teams may be desperate to acquire (at a price, keep in mind, that is reigned in compared to the new contracts given out in this free agency period).

Everybody likes to shit on Rubio, but the fact is you CAN win a lot of games with him as your starting PG. He showed this year that his two previous season-ending injuries were flukes, and he's able to start a full slate of regular season games.

Think of him as the Alex Smith of PGs. If you're desperate for one, you can do a lot worse, and he'll make your offense flow nicely. If you've got a good coach and some shooters, he'll get them the ball and play great defense.
