Meanwhile, Top Gun is a horrid piece of theatrical shit, but it's entertaining as hell to watch.

If someone wants to say that Top Gun is the more enjoyable move, I'll give them that (though some would possibly disagree). At the same time, if they try to argue that Top Gun is a better movie, I'll call them full of crap.

NBA basketball is a far FAR better game than the college game. It's a more 'pure' game even. The defense actually is better, people just don't realize it because the offense is so good they they'll hit a contested jumper and the positioning and athleticism is so great that players don't 'appear' to be playing defense as hard. The old saws about the NBA being garbage basketball are simply out of date and are, by and large, extremely misinformed.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I wonder if the TV ratings bear this out ( I have no idea and don't know how you would even compare).

I do know that most people I know are like me, they used to like the NBA but now don't care if it lives or dies. College hoops is still good to watch but the one-an-done players disrupt what used to be a contiguous sport to watch.

Well, during the football season, I am fine with it. Just takes time away from football coverage.

But, after that, I will miss it. It is a good offseason sport. I could care less about Hockey or Baseball..... so, I will miss the NBA.

People always say that they could care less and that pisses me off so much. Stop being so ****ing dumb and realize that you should be saying that you COULD NOT care any less.

It will open the doors to better TV programming. ESPN will be easier to watch also.

I would be ECSTATIC.

Nothing would charge me up more than if Cleveland won a championship before LeBron.

Can you imagine if the Cavs get another lottery pick in 2012 without playing a single game? That means they could essentially collect 3 lottery picks in one offseason. PLUS... the Cavs still have a $15M exception which I would imagine the NBA would HAVE to extend. That means the Cavs might bring up to 4 marquee players onto their team in one offseason.

That would be the biggest middle finger to LeBron, if they won a trophy without him before he could win one for the Heat.

I'll be glad. I want the players to lose big, in a massive spectacle that serves as a cautionary tale for other pro sports leagues for decades to come.

It doesn't bother me at all. I quit caring about the NBA when the Kings left for Sacramento.

they need to make things more fair for the smaller market teams...

I knew the NFL was never in danger of missing games...

I honestly think the NBA is going to miss a whole season like the NHL...they need a damn hard cap (won't happen)...they need to stop guaranteeing contracts past 2 or 3 years...

Non-NBA markets don't give a shit about the NBA for the most part, unless it's a (recent) former NBA market maybe like when a team moved (Seattle).

I don't really see KC ever getting an NBA team, although it's possible we get a NHL team.

This area is dominated by it's college bball scene (MU/KU/KSU) and the fact that all 3 teams are all good at the same time now enhances that even more. This is partially the reason why many (if not most) want MU to stay in the Big12...in this area it's huge from the months of Aug til Mar/Apr.

Obviously teams like CHI, NY, BOS, MIA, LA will not like this lockout at all because they're the larger markets that help drive the league in terms of TV revenue/fanbases. But would teams like MIL, MEM care about this at all? I don't know.....possibly if thats the only pro sport in the area with a lack of a dominant college sports scene.....Oklahoma City at this time of year has Sooner and Cowboy football, and the fact they're bothing kickass at this time doesn't help the NBA lockout at all. It's all about demand and what the people want. They want football. People were scared about the NFL possibly losing games, because the demand is higher and there are less games that are played. In the NBA, there are 80 games, and if 20 of them are cancelled, no one will care because there are 62 more games.

Maybe I'm wrong, since I'm somewhat far away from an NBA market, but I just don't care about the NBA, and most of that would change if the game was actually called correctly as it should. The reffing is shady at best, and to be honest the season is too damn long and there is a "dry-spell" feeling you get with at least half of the games, kinda like baseball and I love baseball, just think the season is way too long. I like the NBA playoffs a lot better because you have to pretty much go all out for a short period of time or else you go home, the gameplay is picked up another notch, and players play like they give 2 shits.

Not only that, but the main reason that no one cares about the NBA is solely due to the fact that it's football season, nuff said.....the sport has taken over this country from a cultural aspect, both NCAA and pro....and it mostly comes on mostly once a week (not counting MNF bc most teams on a single week don't play MNF, and some don't play MNF at all during the season), so the demand is a little more....also adding to that, there are only 16 games, and the games mean much more due to that fact. You can't have a slow couple months of shoddy play in the NFL or college because that's half your season.

But like I said before....it's football season....and that rules over all other sports.
