When he disappeared, it kind of struck me that he might be the type to want to make just enough money to smash puss being a charming asshole 24/7.

Um, it's 50% of my DVR. Colbert, Fallon, Conan all get taped.

I used to DVR Stewart, Colbert, and Conan every night.
But Conan has just wasted away at TBS. I've mentioned this in other threads, but I used to be his biggest fan, but his edge has almost completely dissipated. I still like him personally, but sheesh that show is dull. So I've replaced Conan's slot on my DVR with Fallon, which has its moments. Fallon's personality just requires a type to like him, and I'm not that type (I would describe that type as "happy go lucky"). His skits, his interviews with less banal guests, and his games that he plays with guests are almost always enjoyable television, moreso than Conan. But his monologue and when he's just shitting around about personal stories he's had with whoever the guest is (which is like 50% of the time it seems) is just too much Fallon for me -- although my lady certainly loves him, as all women seem to. He's super talented, just not my type. Perfect example: on his first night, the Will Smith "history of dance" skit was hilarious, but his interview with Will Smith was unbearable. If Colbert, Stewart, Tina Fey, Joel McHale, or even somebody like Aisha Tyler were to replace Letterman, I'd probably change my DVR again to Late Night. |

When you get guests you actually know and love, which is seemingly better than half the time for me, it's must-watch television. |

Also, Comedy Central also has "Review," which is a brilliant Andy Daly vehicle, the Amy Schumer show, which has really high points when it manages to avoid being dull, and Key and Peele, which might be the best sketch show the channel's had since Chappelle.
Add in South Park, and CC is really killing it the past couple years. (I am just going to pretend that animated abortion of Brickleberry doesn't exist.) Edit: This is just tangential, but honestly, Melissa McCarthy needs a sketch show on CC. She is probably the most versatile sketch comedian SNL's had outside of Timberlake. |

CBS Television Network today announced that Stephen Colbert will succeed David Letterman as the host of THE LATE SHOW, effective when Mr. Letterman retires from the broadcast.

If Bill O'Reilly ever comes by as a guest...will Colbert be able to not make fun of him?
