Totally different coach now.

Was young and inexperienced then. That, and he liked to **** everything with two legs, including some of the players girls and a daughter of one of the administrators. For some reason, that did not endear him to many in the athletic dept. But he took them to an Elite 8 appearance, so they overlooked it for a little while . . . . . . .

I think this is a brand new style of trash talk, as multiple people have said the same thing.

So, you have fans of a school that's mediocre in its best years at football and basketball, and currently mediocre at one and horrible at the other....

...and they're pointing at (very old and largely pointless) NC banners and the completely lighthearted Covid Champs thing of another school that is (outside of those banners) highly successful in one sport and horrible at the other.... but, that's not where it stops.

...then, they complete some kind of weird reach around to third/fourth/fifth schools that are also far better at one sport than anything in their own program to tell the team with the banners how the OTHER schools would view them.

I'd like the opinion of Nebraska-Omaha's hockey team on the banners and wine bottles in question, please.

I guess we'll just have to laugh at all those college football programs from the 1930s through the 1990s having banners and trophies for finishing #1 in the polls too. Such a shame for them none of those counted in the eyes of MU fans.

I’ll call it.

Iowa State goes 1-0 against Mizzou this season, 2-1 against KU(counting a potential game at Hilton South in the Big12 Tournament, otherwise 1-1).

Have you discussed this with D-II Northwest Missouri State to see how they feel about Missouri fans' opinions of other D-I schools' claims for national championships in football during that time frame?

Do you think NWMSU fans would look down on a Missouri fans' opinion of say, a wine bottle commemorating Nebraska's 1997 claim to a National Championship?

Well, if college basketball went by a poll system to award titles then you might have a point, but since they don’t and have this little thing called ‘March Madness’ then I would say without it, kind of hard to determine a ‘champion’, don’t ya think?

You live in Canada, right? Can you reach out the people over in Montreal and ask them if they still celebrate the 1994 Champion Montreal Expos? Maybe post a shirt or something from their ‘championship’ season. Cause we all know if you finish the year #1 or with the best record, that team ALWAYS comes out on top in the post season tournament, right?

I mean, why even play it, right?

Hey, now. That’s a little unfair now. In the last 15 years, Mizzou has played in 4 Conference Title games (Big 12 - 2007 & 2008, 2013 & 2014 in the SEC), and two of those years (2007, 2013) were one win away from playing for a National Championship. Finished in the Top 5 both years.

Have we been mediocre a lot? Yes. But not in our ‘best’ years. Let’s be fair at least with the smack talk.
