*.* 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*
Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!
No one else started it so here it is! **From the 2013 Thread** If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs If you have questions about the SS programs, look here: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE: http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point. |

I was finally able to run today. Every now and again, my left shin would hurt very mildly. My right one never really hurt. I didn't push it and would start walking when the left one started hurting. I only pushed it to 2.65 miles in 30 minutes, around 3-4 minutes slower than normal.

Because they artificially raise the testosterone levels in an individual which in turn helps promote artificial muscle growth and subsequent performance gains that the individual would not experience through naturally ingested foodstuffs.
There is a difference between increasing energy reserves (creatine phosphates) or heart rate that you get from say creatine and caffeine respectively versus actual stimulation and growth of body cells (bone, muscle) by no other means than injection of a substance. It's a cheat when used in a competitive sporting environment and the same as cosmetic surgery when used for personal physical enhancement. |

The bottom line is there are a ton of supplements some naturally and some not that can enhance performance or ones physique. There is nothing fake about the results they provide. It's just a matter of what the sport will allow that draws the line. |

Okay, how about it is an artificial or unnatural increase of testosterone via outside agents/materials that results in lean muscle/body mass gains and subsequent performance gains that would not be achieved without the self administered use of such materials?

Really, I have no problem with steroids in sports. It's already there, anyway, so they might as well legalize it and let the athletes have dedicated, monitored usage by trained doctors (if they don't already). |
