Posting Political/Religious Threads in the Main Forum

Eventually a mod shows up to move the damned thing, but this has been happening way too much lately.

We have a special playground for all your politards and bible thumpers/haters for a reason.

I propose that from this point forward people who do this should lose their thread starting privileges, at least temporarily.

I'm sure your mother is a lovely woman, but I swear I'm not the guy who took her from you. If she'll make me eggs, I might stop by for breakfast someday though.

Hmmm. I didn't realize that the "goosebumps" thread was race-related. I haven't opened it for a long time, though, so I don't really know. Maybe it took a turn I didn't see.

Anyhow, I have always operated under the impression that people of any and all races, creeds, colors, or sexual orientation experienced goosebump symptomatology from time to time. Is that incorrect? Unless we're talking about people who possess no skin. The skinless would naturally go through life goosebump free, I suppose. But, it's generally considered difficult, at best, to establish the race of a person with no skin. In cases where a person is utterly skinless, alternate means of determining race must be employed. Bowling aptitude, for example. If utilizing a house ball and renting shoes, a game of bowling is a fairly inexpensive and usually highly accurate method of determining race. Of course, bowling while skinless can, in itself, be problematic. In cases of that nature, it's vitally important to wear a silk bowling shirt exclusively. Bowling shirts made from other materials, synthetic or otherwise, can irritate the skinless person causing his or her bowling score to suffer potentially resulting in a false negative.

FAX, I believe you may be on to something. To the best of my knowledge, black folks don't bowl, except for the BICO's. That's "Black in Color Only" for the acronym challenged. And even among the bowling black folks, I'm sure that none of them would be caught dead in an official bowling shirt. This deserves further research.

It was race related from the beginning. The article in the OP alludes to a race controversy that may or may not have led Coke to re-score the competition so that a black sorority would share the award with the white girls who originally won it. Coke claims they found and corrected a scoring error without explaining what that error was.

The difference between that thread and the Bootlegged thread is that no one went off on Wutamess claiming he was racist just for posting it the way people went after Bootlegged. Wutamess's thread never became contentious, but it was just as much about race as Bootlegged's was. It would be different if Bootlegged had started his thread with a racist rant or something, but he didn't. He just posted a race-related topic like Wutamess did. Of course, the video in Wutamess's thread was more interesting and had more sexy chicks in it than Bootlegged's picture of a menu so that's a difference too.

You guys might think this sounds crazy, but I'm starting to believe that there are some board members who just like to argue, and don't really much care what the subject matter is. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I could start a thread about, say, the history of the potato, and if the right planeteers got involved there would eventually be a fight. Sure, most people would agree that the potato isn't the most controversial tuber - that honor would have to go to the yucca - but I have no doubt that a bone of contention would eventually be found, leading to acrimony and hilarity.

Of course, there are some who might disagree with me.

The yucca? You can't be serious and if you are, you're dumber than dirk.

The history of the potato is actually quite fascinating.

The potato was originally from Peru where the local inhabitants laid them out on the cliffs. There, the ocean breezes, sunshine, and cool weather would, essentially, freeze dry the little spuds. As a result, they attained the exact carbohydrate to protein ratio necessary for human survival.

Once taken to Europe, of course, they were responsible for the industrial revolution since, for the first time, persons didn't have to spend all their time acquiring food. The resultant "spare time" provided a work force that allowed the industrial revolution to take place.

Therefore, the lowly spud is directly responsible for putting a man on the moon. Plus, you can make little people out of them with toothpicks.
