I know it had been widely reported that Runyan was in town, but Pioli did confirm that in his interview on 810 this morning. Also cut off a question about making the roster better in the next few weeks and said "absolutely".

Bump
Looks like Winston Justice played well enough that we have a decent chance of being his main option now. Link http://www.mcall.com/sports/football...,1843117.story |

It seems like, if we are interested, we would sign him in the next 24 hours. I guess we'll find out soon.

Well ... it might 1 of 3 things.
1. Runyan's workout sucked so nobody is interested. 2. Runyan is asking for crazy money 3. Runyan already knows where he wants to go and is just trying to market a price for that team. Doesn't look good for Runyan becoming a chief.

You know, by process of elimination we seem to be the obvious favorites to sign Runyan.
- He's not going to sign with a team unless he will be starting. The Eagles are happy with Justice's play and have no intention of signing him now. - He's strictly a right tackle. Buffalo fans seem to be saying that their RT is fine, but they'd be worried if he had to slide to LT. (hint: maybe they shouldn't have cut their starting LT days before week 1) - Ndukwe's natural position is G, and he could easily take over for Goff or back him up, opening a spot for Runyan to start. |

Runyan could be runnin' for Congress
Posted by Mike Florio on November 11, 2009 10:07 AM ET Long-time NFL offensive lineman Jon Runyan busted his ass in the offseason to recover from microfracture surgery aimed at allowing him to resume his career. But once he was cleared to play again, he received scattered interest, but no acceptable offers. So now he's exploring his post-football opportunities, and he's considering entering a realm that might even be more challenging that full-contact athletics. Politics. Per various reports (we were first tipped off by the folks at HuggingHaroldReynolds.com), Runyan could be running for Congress in New Jersey. Runyan has not made his intentions known. If it happens, Runyan would be running as a Republican, and he would ultimately be challenging incumbent John Adler, a Democrat. First, Runyan would have to secure the Republican nomination via the primary process. We're assuming that Runyan's platform will focus on the right to bear arms. Really hairy arms. |

Former Eagles OT Runyan considering run for Congress
Nov. 12, 2009
CBSSports.com wire reports MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. -- Former NFL player Jon Runyan says he's considering running for Congress. In a statement issued Wednesday by the Burlington County Republican Committee, Runyan says he believes the country is being taken in the wrong direction by career politicians. Runyan, an offensive lineman, played 13 seasons in the NFL, the last nine with the Philadelphia Eagles. The 35-year-old is out of football this season, though he's talked to the Eagles and other teams about coming back. If he runs for Congress, it would be in New Jersey's 3rd District, which stretches from the Philadelphia suburbs to central New Jersey's beach towns. The seat was won a year ago by Democrat John Adler. Adler followed Republican Jim Saxton, who retired after more than two decades in office. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/1...n-for-congress
