Kiper (via way of Teicher) talks Clausen to KC...
http://chiefsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/1217
It’s worth considering but . . . It’s not likely to happen. Still, the tie between Charlie Weis and his former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen, is a strong one. It’s strong enough that it’s fair to raise the question: Would the Chiefs, with Weis now running their offense, draft Clausen? ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper raised the question himself today when I asked him about the players the Chiefs might reasonably consider (more on this later in the Kansas City Star and on kansascity.com) with their top draft pick, which is fifth. “Charlie Weis is in Kansas City and Jimmy Clausen (will be) there at five. Do they take Clausen and deal Cassel to Denver, say? There’s always going to be talk about that if Clausen is there because Charlie Weis is a huge Jimmy Clausen fan, as everybody knows.’’ As I mentioned earlier, don’t count on it. The Chiefs have too much invested in Matt Cassel to go in another direction now. They also appear to like Brodie Croyle too much to go for Clausen or any other quarterback in an early round. But because of Clausen’s past with Weis, the possibility might be slim but it can’t be ignored. |

There would only be a QB controversy if Clausen came in and played lights out while Cassel continued to suck donkey balls. And really.....if that happens....who the **** cares. With the way Cassel played last year....he shouldn't be guaranteed a starting job.

Looking at their histories, neither Haley nor Pioli have anything against a QB controversy.

This would be an Epic Win if it actually came to fruition...

Starting QB suffers a life threatening injury and the backup leads the team to a Super Bowl?

I'm sure there were lots of fans who wanted Bledsoe (5-13) his last season and two games, over the kid who won the Super Bowl for them. Tons of fans lining up.

Good coaches aren't afraid of the ramifications of bringing in talented players, and I doubt the above "reason" concerns our coaching staff in the least. |

There isn't a controversy if Cassel plays better. And if he doesn't, there should be a QB controversy, rather than a situation where you have nobody else to go to.

I keep seeing Brees/ Rivers being the example here. Difference is those guys got to develop with a good team around them. Foremost an O-line that could block and recievers who could catch.

Do you even watch football? How did the Chargers have the #1 pick in the draft if they were good? Eli Manning forced a trade because the Chargers were terrible. The Chargers got Rivers, Merriman, and Kaeding out of that deal which is a big part of what made them good.
