Why is what Philly did worse than Pittsburgh?

The initial reaction to Philly pulling Hurts seems like it has been cries of how much of a "disgrace" it was. For example:

But how is that any worse than other teams resting their starters? Our game didn't matter, but Pittsburgh rested a few guys which almost certainly helped Cleveland get into the playoffs and forced the Dolphins to sit at home.

Just curious if there's some reason I'm missing that the former situation is so egregious while the latter is just normal.

Sudfeld has been in that organization since 2017. There's no logical explanation you could come up with to "evaluate" him over your 2nd round rookie QB that still has your team in the game.

Agreed.

And who ****ing cares?

If the Giants have such a huge ****ing problem with it, maybe they should’ve won more than 6 ****ing games this year.

I kind of think that at least like 30% of the outrage is just because it's the giants and a lot of the media guys are in NYC.

I don't think anyone outside of NJ gives a **** about that. But it's a real shit turd move to pull on a somewhat veteran squad that cares to win a game.

Oh absolutely.

Originally, my post was just going to say “they’re just mad because a NY team was left out”.

**** the Giants. Those loser ****s got what they deserved by being absolute trash this season. It's pretty clear the Eagles players themselves thought this was bush league bullshit.

I think that's worth it.

I probably would give a shit more if the giants and WFT both had like 9 or 10 wins and they both deserved to go to the playoffs, but the fact that the 6-10 Giants are crying about how unfair this is to them is ****ing hilarious to me and I couldn't give a shit less about the Eagles doing that.

Sounds like Pederson said he was going to do this though.

How’s it any different then other teams that didn’t make the playoffs and held guys out? I guess because it’s in the middle of the game and they still had a shot? But again, if Pederson said he was going to do this, it shouldn’t have been a surprise.

It's because PHI was still in that game when they decided to take out the QB that was keeping them in the game. They could've won it.

If they'd been completely out of the game, then sure, take a look at your other QB, but to put in a guy that clearly wasn't ready when you're still in the game competitively is the definition of tanking. It was basically a big "FU" to the players, to the WFT, to the fans.

If I'm pederson I'd be a lot more worried about what my own players think and they didn't like it because they know exactly what this was. I'd say that's not a who cares deal at all.

I think holding players out is ok. Throwing in the towel half way through a competitive effort is where the line gets crossed.

He's not the first this year to do it, but the other guy that clearly shit his pants will be gone soon (also goes by Doug).
