Despite blood staining the front of his flight suit, Garcia bronco lines up and does his job – 30% score

El Duderino is falling back fast, and Hawaiianboy is going to be under pressure with both waist guns out. Enddelt makes the decision to drop down to 10,000 feet and try to sneak out of occupied territory unobserved. El Duderino is limping along with the sputtering engine, which is actually worse than having the engine completely die, so its cruising speed is cut almost in half. It’s a sitting duck for fighters, so all the gunners get their adrenaline pumping. Even though they’re not familiar with the front guns, Scaga and Fat Elvis move up to the nose and take over the nose gun and cheek guns for the wounded bombardier and navigator. This frees a limping philfree up to be the full-time navigator on the lonely trip home, and Garcia bronco heads toward the back of the plane to tend his wound and be ready in case help is needed at the ball turret or tail gun.

The weather is poor at the base, and the radio is not working, so SNR hopes that the runway is clear. The ground crews are stunned to hear the sound of a B-17, one engine sputtering and fighting, nearly two hours after the formation was due to return. Cheers arise as a battered El Duderino cuts through the cloud bank, wings inadvertently waggling, circles once to line up with the runway, and then bounces to a rough landing. El Duderino travels to the end of the runway, cuts power, and then circles involuntarily off the tarmac as the #1 engine continues to push it forward. The plane slows further in the mud and a ground crew member runs underneath to chock the wheels. Mission accomplished.

Aftereffects

None – Despite injuries to four crew members, the plane and the crew are easily repairable.

Wow, that was quite a flight! I think that whole crew deserves medals for above and beyond the call of duty.

Talisman killed 6 planes and damaged 2 more! I want to find out what kind of ordinace he is using, it has to be different from the rest of us or something!

The top turret has twin guns, as does the tail gun and ball turret gun, so they're more likely to kill a plane when they hit it. Even so, that was a spectacular performance. Kill or be killed, I guess.

-waist - BLAMMO! The noise of the blast makes the entire crew’s hearts skip a beat, even before they know the damage. A shell has hit trndobrd’s ammo supply. Like a flak burst, the box explodes. Trndobrd is killed immediately as he takes the brunt of the explosion. Royc75 takes at least three errant bullets square to the chest and, combined with his earlier wound, bleeds out and dies. The waist of the plane is peppered with holes, including one large hole on the right side where the ammo supply used to be.

Good weather
The excitement isn’t quite over since the landing gear won’t deploy, but htismaqe doesn’t panic. Sdchiefsfan radios in the problem, so the runway is cleared by the time Flyin’ Doublewide arrives. Htismaqe lines up, comes down gently, and the plane grinds to a stop amid spark and even a little bit of fire. The fire crews take care of the situation, though, and the damage is minor.

El Duderino is not going to be able to keep up with the rest of the formation, and begins dropping back. Enddelt makes the decision to drop down to 10,000 feet and try to sneak out of occupied territory unobserved. El Duderino is limping along with the sputtering engine, which is actually worse than having the engine completely die, so its cruising speed is cut almost in half. It’s a sitting duck for fighters, so all the gunners get their adrenaline pumping. Even though they’re not familiar with the front guns, Scaga and Fat Elvis move up to the nose and take over the nose gun and cheek guns for the wounded bombardier and navigator. This frees a limping philfree up to be the full-time navigator on the lonely trip home, and Garcia bronco heads toward the back of the plane to tend his wound and be ready in case help is needed at the ball turret or tail gun. Out of the waist gun window, scaga sees the Me110 pilot offer a salute as the planes pull away. Zone 2: English Channel No enemy Zone 1: England The weather is poor at the base, and the radio is not working, so SNR hopes that the runway is clear. The ground crews are stunned to hear the sound of a B-17, one engine sputtering and fighting, nearly two hours after the formation was due to return. Cheers arise as a battered El Duderino cuts through the cloud bank, wings inadvertently waggling, circles once to line up with the runway, and then bounces to a rough landing. El Duderino travels to the end of the runway, cuts power, and then circles involuntarily off the tarmac as the #1 engine continues to push it forward. The plane slows further in the mud and a ground crew member runs underneath to chock the wheels. Mission accomplished. Aftereffects None – Despite injuries to four crew members, the plane and the crew are easily repairable. A bullet penetrates the outboard fuel tank, and in a flash of light and heat the entire tank explodes. The initial explosion throws the plane to the right, and it then violently rolls to the left and begins a long, violent corkscrew into the ground. Copilot papasmurf (6) and Navigator Alphaman (6) are killed in the initial explosion. Pilot Morphius (3), Radio Op. Redbrian (6), Ball Turret Gunner MrBlond (2) are knocked unconscious in the initial explosion, and mercifully do not know when they hit the ground in the near-sonic-speed crash. Engineer RednFeisty (2) and Tail Gunner Chief Henry (6) aren’t so lucky. They survive the initial explosion, but are pinned inside the plane by centrifugal forces. They can’t escape from the doomed plane and have no chance as it buries itself into the Dutch countryside. Left Waist Gunner MikeTheWildcat (2) took the brunt of the explosion and was thrown out of the plane immediately. Seriously injured and on fire, he deploys his chute, but it too is on fire. The chute fails at 4,000 feet and he becomes a flaming projectile. Bombardier Saggysack (2) is hurled from the plane at 14,000 feet, crashing through the plexiglass nose. Semi-conscious and disoriented, he deploys his chute too quickly and it shreds at high speed. He becomes a projectile as well. Right Waist Gunner jenson71 (5) is hurled from the plane at 3,000 feet. At that point, he is diving too fast to deploy his chute and too disoriented to do it anyway. He too slams into Dutch soil. No bomb run Aftereffects Sadly, the Wrath of Zod is no more. Zone 1: England Good weather The excitement isn’t quite over since the landing gear won’t deploy, but htismaqe doesn’t panic. Sdchiefsfan radios in the problem, so the runway is cleared by the time Flyin’ Doublewide arrives. Htismaqe lines up, comes down gently, and the plane grinds to a stop amid spark and even a little bit of fire. The fire crews take care of the situation, though, and the damage is minor.
