I can't blame Green, Vermeil, or Carl for any of this. It's just BAD LUCK!!!!!!!

green is doing the best he can with what he has. he had no time with both morton or kenisson during training camp. plus each of them are still not 100% his main hook ups during training camp were Boe, cris wilson, and smith. boe is out for this season and wilson probably out for the majority of the season. smith is a first year rookie that probably needs 2 seasons before he will contribute substantially to the team. then you have the inevitable decline of our O-line with welbourne needing more playing time before he is up to speed. 3 solid years this O line has been the best in the nfl. it was bound to weaken sooner rather than later. then you have TG who is our only reciever right now and he is even playing with a foot that will need surgery during the off season. any team would be out of their heads not double team him and take him out of the game plan which each team we've played has successfully done.

there you have it. although i have had faith that KC will some how pull it out this season and win 11 games now given the above it may be a off year for the chiefs. they will rebound big time next year but the above circumstances may be to much for the coaching staff to overcome this season.

i have not even addressed the glaring problems on D that appear not to improve substantially until we can add more talent during the off season. the good news is we have plenty of draft picks next year so we have better chance of picking up some one good. i'm sure we can make some free agency moves as well both defensively and offensively.

if we can win 10 games it will be (down from my expectation of 12 wins) it will be nothing short of spectacular, and vermeil and company should get the accolades they would deserve for such an achievement.

with all the above we have arguably the toughest schedule in the nfl so winning 10 games could mean a lot come playoff time (if we make it with 10 that is).

all and all I have a wait and see attitude about it. i'm very disappointed with the way things played out before even the season began. it's very unfortunate. we really needed the offense to be at the level they were last year with everyone at or near 100% and players like Boe and kris wilson to add yet another dynamic. even smith could have been more of contributor if there was no pressure for him to be a #1 or #2 WR. Our D had to improve just slightly for us to get over the hump. now it looks like all bets are off!

it truly is disappointing and I can't really blame vermeil and his coaching staff or even Carl for the predicament they are in. it is just BAD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

I just hope you guys put some wins together soon. It's no fun talking Chiefs with you guys when the board is in despair.

A win this week would go a long way toward turning those frowns upside-down.

Carolina beat the ish out of us with injuries to two of thier best players.

The Chiefs this year are just like the Royals and MU Tiger Basketball.... once the media predicts they are gonna win they think it will all come too easy and underestimate everyone else. This 0-2 start actually might be good for the chiefs ego.

Wow, I'm surprised no one has seen what I have seen this year! The Chiefs defense has been playing well, especially on Sunday, UNTIL the 4th Quarter! They were tied with Denver, and then gave up 14 points to Carolina in the 4th. This SCREAMS to me, Conditioning! Vermeil complained that it wasn't hot enough in WI this training camp, and it's come back to bite them in ass. First, they're in the thin air of Denver, then the heat and humidity of KC. Conditioning has been more of a factor than anything else on the defensive side of the ball, IMO.

As far as the offensive side of the ball, John Welbourne has been a major disappointment, and the offensive line hasn't been nearly as consistent as the past 2 years. Welbourne's penalties and bad play has not allowed the offense to get into a rhythm. At times, Al Saunders hasn't called a smart game either, which is a little surprising. But the offense will get better, as the will the defense.

My biggest concern this offseason is now a reality, and it's not the offense or the defense - it's the special teams, especially Vermeil's decision to go with Tynes. Yes, Tynes has a much stronger leg than Anderson and has been putting the ball in the endzone on kickoffs. But my primary concern with the decision of Tynes is that it would change the Chiefs offense and their philosophy, which it clearly has! Instead of going for it on 4th and 1 or 4th and 2, Vermeil instead trots out his shiny, brand new, strong legged kicker for a long field goal. In the past, the offense would have gone for it and made it, thus scoring more points, staying on the field longer and wearing out the opponents defense. This year, he sends out the kicker (who missed), therefore giving the opponent the short field, an easier chance to score and more time to wear out the Chiefs defense.

A little change in philosophy, a little more conditioning and more time with the new systems will go a long way for this team. I envisioned them as only 2-2 to start the season and still think they will win 10+ games.

Remember, the most important stretch of the season is the last 6 games, where 5 of those 6 are AFC West opponents. I believe, contrary to last year, this team will be better at the end of the year, as opposed to no improvement.

I see that, too...

DaneMcCloud-

You also have to factor in the Chiefs Offense being unable to sustain a drive for more than a minute. That has to take a toll on the Defense, both physically and menatally.

Ever heard of Preist Holmes?
How about Trent Green?

i call bull again...

since when has Vermeil been a go for it on 4th down kind of coach??

or be real aggressive in any fashion?

remember the patriots game when he didn't go for 2??

how many times in the past has Vermeil said "in retrospect maybe we should of been more aggressive" ??

he's an old school coach, who believes in a conservative, by the book coached game.

Tynes is just fine... it's the coach that needs an attitude adjustment

i've said all along that KC will be slow out of the gates this year, and I believe they can still rebound and go into the playoffs stronger than last season. I'm just not as confident right now given the injuries. right now i will be more surprised that we will be in better shape going into the playoffs than last year or even make the playoffs. if we are 2-2 at the bye week i'll feel better about it. i underestimated the loss of tait and the decline of our receiver corp.

well, if junior continues to progress, it looks like they did address the dt situation...

I think the plan for the offense forr 2004 was a really good one but two of the main components broke before the season ever got here. Bo and Wilson were gonna be huge in the plan( run blocking just as much as pass catching) but their injuries ruined that plan and all the countless hours of planning went out the window. I hope before DVs gone it get to see that plan executed.

You were the one last year saying we were a year away when this team was 5-0.

So now we are into this year, it's bad luck?

It is bad luck that the Chiefs had corner and receiver problems the FIRST year Vermeil was here, and we still have the same problems today?

That's piss poor planning and it's piss poor drafting.

But keep making excuses if it makes you feel better why we have tanked the first two games of this season.
