Alex Smith is a solid QB, sorry haters. Bucs win 5th game in a row.
Despite the common thought here that Alex Smith held down the team Sunday, Smith's overall production to the team yesterday graded out very positive in 3 rankings:
Smith: QBR 94.1, QB rating 99, PFF 71.9
Winston: QBR 83.6, QB rating 97, PFF 50.7

This is why we should use our brains instead of repeating the garbage fed to us by Mellinger and Teicher. If Smith only had 34 plays yesterday to do something with the ball and earns both a rushing and passing TD, a FG, to 1 INT (first red zone interception since 2013) and completes an outstanding 77% of passes ... we should probably focus on the real problem yesterday: The Defense. Who didn't show up and allowed Winston/Martin to hold the ball for 35 minutes, earn 24 first downs, and convert 68% of 3rd downs (league average is 40%).

Against the Bucs...
Alex Smith: 1 INT, 99 QB rating
Philip Rivers: 2 INTs, 80 QB rating
Russell Wilson: 2 INTs, 39 QB rating
Drew Brees: 3 INTs, 49 QB rating

Smith threw a no look, one read pass on second down directly to Chris Conte, who returned the ball 50 yards, setting up penis Winston with a short field, which turned into Tampa Bays only TD of the day.

He didn't set up the punter very well, that's for sure...

First red zone INT since 2013 (reported by ESPN) and people here are shitting a brick when Smith put up a very efficient game?

Meanwhile the defense gave up 50+ yards several times to lose field position and gave up at least 3 points each time. 2 dropped INT opportunities. Reid's **** play calling, the mystery time out with 1 minute remaining to help TB earn another field goal (Bob Dole was right). Acker getting embarrassed. Missed tackles all day. Jameis getting 18 passing first downs...

Yea good luck changing my opinion on the matter when Smith puts up these numbers without his #1 receiver: QBR 94.1, QB rating 99, PFF 71.9

Even ESPN wrote an article about Smith's solid play today. But Nope, let's all blame Smith after the defense gave up a costly TD meanwhile he responds by moving the team 78 yards down the field for a touchdown in under 4 minutes.

Common sense, not so common.

All the OP shows is that ESPN has a reeruned system to measure QB performance. Anyone with eyes could see Winston was the better QB.

That's only because Winston was playing the 32nd ranked defense and Smith had to play the 1st ranked defense. Duh.
