It doesn't work that way. If the PS3 didn't have blu-ray, the console would have been significantly cheaper and as a result would have better sales. If Sony had launched at $400 and been able to keep price parity with the 360 throughout the generation, Microsoft would have been in trouble.

PS3 would have still lost the battle because companies were jumping the ship on exclusivity because PS3 was such a bitch to program games for.. With or without bluray, Sony would have lost to the sheer inferior number of quality games compared to the 360.. Games sales show this, even though PS3 has been outselling them.. |

Not it hasn't. The 360 has increased its hardware lead over the past year and is still outselling the PS3. The PS3 actually sells software in proportion to install base.

It was a joke. Me and Tiny have been going back-n-forth for months now... And 3 years later, yes it is finally a better buy than the 360 (even though the Elite just dropped); thank you blueray player. Like I said in another thread, i'll be picking one up now that the price is right. Sony still has a ways to go to catch up to the 360 though. It still has a ways to go to catch up with the 360 though and Lair is hardly an outstanding title...

The console wars are pretty cyclical in nature, and each console has its advantages over the other. I like the PS3 better from the get go because of the blu-ray player, even at $400 it offered a ton of value, and plenty of games to keep me occupied...but the 360 does get some gaming time in my house, I loved Crackdown, and am looking forward to playing Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, and Fable 2. Oh yeah, and Crackdown 2, of course. The other "exclusives" people recommend, i'd rather play on PC. |

Sony Software sales are up 100 percent over last year, with LBP KZ2 MLB and Infamous exceeding goals. On the Monthly NPD charts 360 sells more copies of third party games based on the bigger install base. But to sit there and still say 360 is making more quality games is living in 2007. AT E3 the biggest news at the 360 keynote was ALL third party titles Microsoft paid HUGE $$$ to to have them demo their games in the 360 keynote. PS's keynote was all first party titles except for Assassins' Creed 2 and maybe FFIV. Whether or not you are personally interested in MAG ModNation Racers, God of War III, Uncharted 2, GT5, Heavy Rain, etc. SONY has the most first party titles for a diverse group. I'd say SONY is much more on the front of development of new franchises. Plus there are PS3 exclusive levels in Arkham Asylum where you play as the Joker, so third parties are getting on board with the cell processor as well. 360 is building on their existing with sequels and smaller games. |

If the PS3 doesn't have BD things are completely different and you have a 2 horse race to the finish. PS3 is gaining fast. I don't think Natal can maintain the momentum.

The PS3 hasn't been gaining at all for over a year and even then it was only for a few months. Microsoft hasn't just kep their lead from the early start, they've built on it. The price cut may change that, but right now the PS3 is selling very poorly.

Of course it was, it was still too expensive for the average consumer. Personally, I haven't seen crap I was interested in from MS since Gears 2 which was way too short. All the good titles were available on both consoles.

1) 360 came out with a stripped down model for $199 and adertisew heavily in Q4 with bundles and family games to get Wii owners to step up. 2) inventory and advertising was left to wane in order to clear for this new SKU 3)People were waiting for rumored price drop. Items 2 and 3 should make #1 not a factor. All PS needs now is a great ad campaign to get the word out. |
