Kansas is Kansas and will always be Kansas. Most basketball fans would love to have a basketball program with your pedigree. And MOST fanbases would love to have a Coach like Bill Self.

Has he underachieved in the post-season with some of his teams? Sure. But he's still better than 95% of the coaches out there.


I would happily take him over the brokedick we gave control of our basketball team to.

This just wasn't a very good KU team. They turned the ball over a lot, made silly ass decisions, they were probably the worst loose ball team I've ever seen, they couldn't rebound worth a shit, they rarely got back on defense against up tempo teams. They didn't guard the 3pt shot, couldn't handle the press which goes back to the silly ass decisions and stupid turnovers.

With Aldrich, Withey and Embiid, Self had someone down low that was an impact person...someone who could rebound and block shots on the other end and could draw fouls on the offensive end. I can't remember a KU that got their shit blocked as much as this team did. Undersized, getting pushed around on the block. Lucas and Traylor are garbage, and if Ellis isn't scoring he's a liability all together....****in pussy I've never seen a more soft player than him. Alexander is no use to this team if he can't get on the court due to elig issues. No PG depth...Graham has to get better. There were major holes on this Kansas team and it's a miracle they were able to win the conference reg season title again....a ****in' miracle.

You can say all you want about the blue chippers Self gets on a yearly basis, but he simply didn't have the horses needed to do his thing. To be honest I wouldn't care less if Wayne Selden packed up his shit and moved on to another school or was stupid enough to jump to the NBA. What a ****ing dissapointment he has been. Supposed to be the go to guy this season and make his mark nationally...and if it weren't for a handful of games he'd be the most disappointing player in the Big12. He deserves to join Frankamp at WichSt.*

Bill Self has fallen into the one and done trap, and his system doesn't work for that type of player. Calipari is able to squeeze everything out of players quickly and send them on their way. This is different than fully developing players...which is what Self does.

Self takes guys and breaks them down. He puts them in the doghouse, calls them out in the media, and gradually pulls them back into the fold. That's great for guys who stick around for 3-4 years like Releford, Withey, Robinson, and Ellis. It just doesn't work for guys who see themselves as just parking themselves on a campus for a few months until they can declare for the draft. Every one of those players has under-performed (Selby, Wiggins, Henry, Selden, Oubre, Alexander).

I don't get why he bothers. You aren't going to beat Calipari by getting more out of one and done kids than he is, and you sure as hell aren't going to do it with the players he didn't want.
