Hunt was definitely consulting with Schottenheimer before Pioli was hired.

Whether he recommended the hiring is anyone's guess.

It's certainly possible.

I don't think this is true. Marty has stated many times that he doesn't want to coach in the NFL again. He took the UFL job because he wanted to coach again without the pressure of the NFL.

He was 14-2 when he was fired. I don't believe for a second that no one in the NFL was interested. Keep in mind that SD has been underachievers since he was fired. They played better under him.
