Now we can add another to the list: G/C Rudy Niswanger to the Lions. This according to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com. Niswanger becomes, from what I can tell, the fourth player that left the Chiefs this season to sign with another team.
The KC connection in Detroit is Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham. The actual connection, as Wilson points out, is Niswanger's college offensive line coach being in Detroit.
Niswanger entered the league in 2006 as an undrafted free agent and spent three years as a reserve and two years as a starter at center for the Chiefs. He was the bridge between C Casey Wiegmann's departure and his return two years later.
Niswanger was the Chiefs player rep which became an important role over the last year. He was the main line of communication between the high-level labor negotiations and the rest of the Chiefs players.
Glad to hear Niswanger caught on with another team.

Lions released C Rudy Niswanger.Signed three weeks ago, Niswanger couldn't lock down a roster spot despite some injury issues along Detroit's offensive line. Just two years removed from being a 16-game starter for the Chiefs, he should be able to crack someone's roster this season. Sep 3 - 1:10 PM

Hell I'd take their last year's back up QB over Palko in a heartbeat. And I might even be thinking about two different guys too.
