Failing as a HC doesn’t make him not a good offensive mind. He could still be a good OC. He just clearly has no business being a HC. This was a year ago. Of course I wouldn’t bang the table for him as a HC if I were in the Jets from office.

Another solid take from you in your drooling over Adam Gase when the Jets hired him as their HC last January:

Tannehill has reached his ceiling. What the **** more do you expect out of a guy that was never going to be a great QB?
The Tennessee Titans apparently disagreed with your “Tannehill reached his ceiling” take as part of your defense of Gase.

Tannehill played in 50% of the games with Gase as HC. Not once did he even play a full season. Maybe that had something to do with it you butt****ing moron?

I didn’t say Gase was a great hire. I didn’t even say he was going to be a good HC. All I said was he was a good offensive mind that didn’t get a fair shot in Miami because Tannehill was never healthy and the only time he was for at least 13 games they actually made the playoffs (what I meant by his ceiling). None of that is untrue.

But keep pretending I’m an Adam Gase lover because I defended the guy once in a thread a year ago because his QB was always hurt.

That is literally the same reason Cam Cameron was fired and the same exact situation and you say that’s a “terrible example”? Seriously, are you ****ing reeruned?

Are there not a ton of question marks around Bieniemy? Greg Roman has much more experience and success as a OC. Again, are you ****ing reeruned?
It's a stupid example. The Arizona GM hired Wilks knowing he was transitioning to a 4-3. There was no sign of team chemistry issues. The same GM fired him after 1 season installing a new scheme.
> Kitchens was fired because the team was in open revolt. The GM who hired him was also fired.
> Cameron was fired because his team was one of the worst teams in NFL history. He was fired by a different front office (Parcells & Ireland).
> Greg Roman was fired from his last 2 OC gigs because he left behind league-worst offenses. He was not a HC candidate in 2019 for good reason. It's easier to explain why Roman and Bieniemy might get snubbed in 2020. I'm not totally sold on Bieniemy in 2019 but the coaches he got passed up for are a complete joke.

Yeah, the Wilks firing is still puzzling to me as well. Especially since they replaced him with a gimmick coach who couldn't win anything with Mahomes as his quarterback. It's not like they brought in a proven winner.

It’s pretty obvious why they did what they did if you are capable of looking at the bigger picture.

They unexpectedly ended up with the #1 overall pick and their rookie QB gave them very little reason to pass on Kyler Murray.

Who would you rather have developing a QB like Kyler? An offensive minded QB coach or a defensive minded HC with absolutely no experience developing QB’s? Not to mention Murray has a unique skill set and his best chance of success was in a college style offense.

With Wilks as a HC, you’d have to worry about your OC leaving if Murray has any success whatsoever. Now that’s not a concern either.

This is why I made the Cam Cameron comparison. If you finish dead ****ing last you can get fired regardless of being a first year HC. There’s always a possibility that ownership/management want to go in a different direction given the #1 pick and a chance to hit reset.

Not the guy who couldn't win anything with Mahomes despite getting to play against Big 12 "defenses" most of the season, that's for sure.

So you’re saying keeping Wilks was the best option even with hindsight? Because Kyler’s about to win OROY after a solid rookie season under Kingsbury, so if you think staying with Wilks was the better option, you’re reeruned.

Even if they hired a good OC and had similar success with Murray, they’d have to worry about him leaving as early as this year. Of course Kingsbury was the right choice for the time being for the sake of Kyler’s development alone. How can you not see that?

The question was about developing your QB not winning football games. Let us not pretend that being able to recruit in the college is the same as drafting in the NFL either.

What if he just doesn't interview well? Maybe he just gives gm's and owners his press conference a lot of words with no answers thing.

It's hard to imagine Adam Gase gave a better interview based on the bizarre things he's done and said during press conferences. Or Freddie Kitchens. I don't doubt you're right. But consider the idiots who were hired in 2019.

It was ovbious kitchens wasnt hired because he was the most qualified canidate, Dorsey wanted a push over. and the jets played against Gase twice a year for years. Its likely they became infatuated with something he did. Much like when mediocre players get big contracts in the same division.

Sure, but my point is if it was about the interview and screening process, those 2 should have been a walking red flag. Gase walked into the most important press conference of the year coked out of his mind.
