The Netflix Favre Doc is out

They really don't hold back all that much, they have people from every level of his career back to high school talking about what a pile of shit the guy was...

Call him what you want off the field I'm not here to argue that aspect, but you better at least call him tough... he is the all time Ironman, and played in an era where QBs still got crushed regularly with no flags

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...FL_quarterback

Twelve minutes in and so far they're reeeally hyping him up, which makes tearing him down all the sweeter for the producers and many fans... when one of your lead off commentators is Jemele Hill, its probably not gonna be a puff piece lol

2002: Ran into Vick in his glory season.
2003: 4th and 26 in Philly. The game doesn't go into overtime if they make the easiest stop in history.
2004: That was on Favre. He tried too much.
2005: The whole team died except he and Driver. They were down to their seventh string RB. He threw 29 INTs, trying to make magic happen. That was the only time I saw him live. It was the game in Baltimore. GB lost 48-3. I didn't even see a TD and Rodgers played the final quarter. The football gods don't like me.
2006: First year of McCarthy. The team returned to .500 and were ascending. Thing is, the 2006 NFC was awful. The Rex Grossman Bears won the title. The 10-6 Saints were the second seed. It was a weird transition year for the conference. Place the 2007 Packers in 2006 and they roll to the title.
2007: Ran into Coughlin and his Giants, who knocked out Gruden's Bucs, the 13-3 Cowboys, 13-3 GB, and then the undefeated Patriots. As a poster at PFRA once said, "Coughlin wasn't always in the big game but when he found himself there he would win it."

Those two Giants Super Bowl runs are the stuff of myth and legend.

I’m sure I’ll watch this but won’t like it. He was probably my favorite QB back in the day.

I Wonder who made this doc that wanted to smear him?

Duration vs. Peak. Steady vs. spectacular.

Take that argument and turn it up to 11 and you have Brady vs. Mahomes. People were really having the exact same argument even then, generally under the assumption that he'd win another ring or two.

Then it just didn't happen in the latter half of his career.

But that doesn't change how ungodly good he was in the first half.
I also remember how POPULAR he was. I lived in Dallas and even I had a Favre jersey for some reason. I think those were my first two jerseys. Montana and Favre.

One final note.

Favre is why I can't hate Kermit. Mahomes reminds me too much of Favre. They share the same sort of DNA. At the same time, Andy, like Fat Mike, know how to streamline that maverick style into something consistently productive without castrating their natural gifts.

QBs like Brady and Manning, the logical, gameplan ones, bore me. Too clinical.

Wow.

Brady had 3 separate streaks of 120+ games. That's just friggen nuts.

To your point -- most of his career was played in a different era, but still - that's pretty amazing.

Bernard Pollard and Roger Goodell are the only reason that guy didn't play damn near 400 straight games.

That dude's resume is just gonna be so hard to ever beat. Guy threw for 5,300 yards and 43 touchdowns at 44 years old. I just don't see how anyone throws for 90,000 friggen yards and beats that. You have to NEVER get hurt, NEVER be bad and just play for 20 damn years.

Who has that sort of crazy in them at this point? And why would they?

He invited it, the welfare fraud mixed with trying to sue Pat McAfee for talking about it was all it took. If those 2 things don't happen this piece likely isn't made.

I have no plans to watch this. I don't care what he was and how he acted away from football. Just another media takedown. I will just keep my memories of Favre being a great QB.

38 minutes in and all Jemele Hill gets is 15 seconds or so every ten minutes or so, gotta admit they're not being as hard on him as I presumed... at least not yet

But whatever dirt they end this with, at least he never...

Beat up some girlfriend, or dude at the casino etc
Never killed someone in a DUI incident
No violence of any known kind
Wasn't dealing dope

He partied too much, slept around, and got full of himself with Sterger... who is basically a clone of his wife, I mean if you're gonna get some strange don't get a stunt double of your wife lol

He was a dumbass like so many other God tier celebs, but not in any way thats unforgivable

As of the completion of this documentary, Brett Favre has not been charged criminally, and denies any wrongdoing.
