I use Microsoft Security Essentials as well and can vouch for it. No reason to pay for A/V. In addition to MSE I would also download Malwarebytes.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Don't buy it, use the free version. I would run full scans of your PC monthly with both programs or whenever you feel you are being "attacked."

I do, (on an intermittent basis).
I will really watch them this year because Reaper told me this is THE year.

I always used the free version of avast until they sent an offer for the full version for $9.95.
I jumped on that shit.

I also have malwarebytes & SuperAntiSpyware Free edition. Comcast tries to pedal free McAfee but I don't want anything to do with it.

I considered linked graphics on some of the threads as being the cause, but the warning also appears on my user page. Unless someone placed a link in a rep comment, it doesn't make much sense for the warning to appear there.

Honestly, I have no real complaints about McAfee except for when it does an automatic update and stalls out my internet. It's been excellent for keeping viruses at bay, but I found it strange that it's popping up often on CP and I don't recall it happening on any other site.

I can send you a link when it happens again. However, as previously mentioned, I didn't begin getting these warnings until I switched from IE to Google Chrome. My guess is it's a security setting issue on my end and there's probably nothing harmful on the site.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a great free antivirus solution if you have a genuine copy of windows. If your willing to pay, then NOD 32 is hands down the best available.

Probably should go with NOD 32 since you're downloading naked dudes on horses.

You're probably right. Oh, and that bookmark title is wrong, the site is HorsesRidingNakedMen.com. So yeah, I should check into the NOD 32. Thanks!

I won't claim to know more than several others on here... hardly... but I use avast virus protection and haven't had a virus once in 5 years using it... and spybot search and destroy and run a check once a week. Never any problems.

And stop looking at naked men on horses online and have some respect for your husband.

I've used Spybot before and it worked well on the old laptop. When we got the new laptop I downloaded CCleaner and it does pretty much the same thing as Spybot.

Again, this isn't just my laptop... Gonzo bookmarks that crap. He even said so in one of his posts. Translation: Lumpy is innocent. Innocent, I tells ya!

You're really pushing for us to drive to KC, aren't you? Does this have something to do w/ that discussion you had with Gonzo about an Eiffel Tower?
