-- Nothing is quite like truly helping make someones life a little better...

Even if it's only for a week.

There's a homeless guy that walks around my area - a lot.

He pushes a shopping cart loaded w/ winter survival stuff and other bull shit.

I've joked w/ the QT employees and I refer to this man as "Busta Crimes"

But anyhow today i saw him and my heart gave in - as it's getting pretty cool for Atlanta, this afternoon.

I talked to him for the first time today and asked if he was hungry - as tactfully as I could w/o insulting him.

I went to QT which was a block away - bought him a $40 in qt gift card dollars. I almost felt like crying doing all of this - he said 'thank you for your blessing' I told him that I TOO was blessed and nobody will go w/o food if I can prevent it.

I then asked him if he was cold - he said yes that some of his blankets needed to see the cleaners - I told him that I'd BRB - and I went home and got about three high quality blankets and three Sheex pillows that are/were queen sized.

I feel really blessed and I hope you all have a good week, next week.

Pardon any typos - I actually have a date to Chequers which is a Gilbert Robinson Bristol Bar&Grille clone.

Take it easy!

Ayn Rand would say that no one ever does anything out of a sense of true altruism. She'd say that even Mother Teresa did what she did to satisfy her own self interest. Then she'd probably call you a dickbag anyway.

Good work.

Now I'm leaving this thread because it's infected with the odor of Chris.

I've always believed that. My microecon teacher talked about that all the time.

I have done similar in a few instances. However don't give cash or gift cards if you want the reciever to buy food. Chances are he won't. Buy him food. Once a week buy him a hotdog for 40 weeks. Just saying bro. But I do absolutely love the kind spirit you are and where your intentions are.

I don't recall him mentioning that his act was purely altruistic.

We all gain some amount of personal satisfaction from helping others. This doesn't diminish the actual act. Bravo Zulu, SR!

P. S. I occasionally have similar ideas, but I just buy the man a meal so I have peace of mind that those dollars aren't directly being smoked, toked, intravenously injected, or converted to a cardboard box of Napa's finest. Yes, I do it to make myself feel better but the recipient of the meal doesn't seem to care.

Heck it's better than not caring - or trying to help, when and to the amt. that you can. Kudos to you, too sir.
