Some Things About Today's Game: Week 17 KC 31 Zebras 34

Some Things About Today’s Game Week 17: KC 31 Zebras 34

The Chiefs did not get their “Ass Whipped.” They lost on a field goal kicked on the final play of the game. So stow that “ass kicked” garbage. It’s not true.

This is the first time we’ve lost a game in the last eight games. This was on the road, missing our two starting tackles. When you lose your two starting tackles, things usually don’t go well. Go back and watch last years Super Bowl if you don’t believe that.

When you get outscored 17-3 in the second half of a shootout game, you don’t deserve to win. Go back and watch the KC-Tennessee playoff game from the Alex Smith era if you don’t believe that.

Chase had more yards receiving and more TDs than Mahomes had passing in both of those categories. If your DC can’t adjust to a guy who is burning you deep over and over, you don’t deserve to win.

The Bengals got six first downs awarded on penalties. Chiefs got Zero.

Get over the kickoff return call back. Anderson was holding. That’s what happens when you activate a practice squad guy in a big game. They make stupid mistakes. You have to just get past it. Chiefs didn’t. They only scored three points in the second half

If you put Sorenson on deep coverage, you deserve to lose. The first seven games of the season should have taught Spags that. If Sorenson is back on this team next year, something is seriously wrong with Bruce Valanche. When you give up a third and 27 deep in the fourth quarter, you deserve to lose.

The last minute of this game was eerily similar to the loss against the Raiders in Oakland three years ago. How many chances are the stripes going to give the Cincy offense to win? Five? Six? More??? Answer: Whatever it takes.

We may need to draft another offensive tackle next year. Niang seems to be injury prone and is unreliable for the long run of an entire NFL season. Get a Free Agent, or just keep Wiley starting at right tackle.

Silver Lining Stuff: Thuney is a very good offensive lineman. Hardman made a nice catch. Kelce got his 700th reception faster than any other tight end in the history of the NFL. Williams is a really good running back.

Future: We’ve probably lost the number one seed. Tits play the Texans next week. The Tits won’t make the mistake the Bolts made, and they’ll crush them. The winners of the other three divisions, Bills, Bengals and Tits, all beat us head to head in the regular season. So we have no complaint if we’ve lost the number one seed. That was the prize today, and this team failed to secure the prize. The guys needs to suck it up, prepare for Denver and get in the mind set to deal out some payback in the playoffs. That’s all I have to say about that. It’s very hard to make it to three Super Bowls in a row. We’re seeing how hard that road is now.

A brutal loss. No doubt. No matter what, we’re the AFC West Champions. Hopefully this will wake the team up and give them some motivation. Beat Denver. Beat them down. Beat them bad.

Good read George.

I agree mostly.

I really think Spags called a bad game. If Chase is going to have a game like that (obviously not all of his games are like that or he'd have 3000 yards this year). The gameplan probably wasn't a bad one, but if Chase is going to go have himself a day, you need to adjust. That wasn't it. And when everyone ran upto the line on 3rd and 27 I literally yelled OH NO because I knew it would happen. Spags had a bad game. Hopefully that's the end of it.

I think Ward didn't have all that bad of a game. His technique looked good, he rad the plays and put himself in the right position most of the time. Chase is just better. I'm not sure prime Revis could have locked him down. Burrow was definitely **** it chuck it his way and was placing the ball really well. I don't know what the offseason answer is, but my opinion is that whatever the answer is, todays game didn't change it. Spags definitely screwed up IMO.

Hopefully they turn up the rape from here on out and fist the competition moving forward.

I keep saying it. Shut that shit off. I leave all of it on mute until the game starts. Periodically I'll watch the highlights on football night in America but that's it. If I'm doing other things or don't get it shut off in time, there is literally never any insight. Ever. The announcers have stuff that is valuable, but the pre-post is pure unadulterated garbage.

Just shut it off dude. ****ING ALL OF IT.

#49 should have only play within the 1st 7 yards form scrimmage, beyond that he is total liability. Or find somebody better.

First off, credit to Cincinnati. Their team is fun to watch, I must admit. Burrow was worthy of the number one overall pick in his draft class, Mixon is a quality running back, Ja'Marr Chase is already an elite receiver and Tee Higgins is not too shabby as their number two wide receiver.

That being said, defense (particularly linebackers and secondaries) got their shit pushed in by the Cincinnati offense today, Ward especially.

This loss really hurts because it cost us a chance to be in driver's seat for first round bye in AFC Playoffs, especially considering Tennessee has the head-to-head win over us.

George, great read as always - sorry it is under these circumstances.

This game was steered by the refs - yes JB to Chase numerous times was legit but DAMN - the mystery calls were completely ridicules! We are now the #2 seed which is better than NO seed at all - we will have to work harder but it can be achieved! We are the CHIEFS and we will prevail! Chin UP and move on! We can do this!

IMO the Titans DESERVE the #1 seed. If Henry does not get hurt they probably win 13 or 14 games.

Even at halftime, you could tell the CBS crew was slightly biased, mainly discussing how to beat the Chiefs.

Can we rip the brakes off of this offense? They need to go go go and never stop...

And on the other side did we needed this to feed our play off run?

Thanks for the write up Mr G.

My thoughts are that this loss was more on coaching than the zebras. Yes the Chiefs were unproportionately penalized 10x to the Bengals 5. Yes, those 10 penalties resulted in 6 Bengals first downs vs only 1 first down for the Chiefs on the 5 penalties. Hard to overcome that.

However, This game (known to us from this day forward as the “3rd and 27” game) was more about lack of adjustments. When you play man press coverage and one receiver carves for 200+ and 3 touches, that is a fail. When the offense scores 28 in H1 but only 3 in H2, that is a fail.

That said, this loss may just be what the team needed. They were riding a little high in the britches. Hopefully, this will motivate them for another Super Bowl run …

Why did Steve need a reminder that Sorensen is more shitty linebacker than shitty db?

Why did Steve consistently allow Chase to be in si gle coverage?

Why in the name of all that is holy would you zero blitz on 3rd n 27 IN A TIED FOOTBALL GAME?

Hopefully someone can find out these answers, and explain to Steve that this is not smart football.

Just be happy this lesson is only costing us the 1 seed and the bye, and not ending our season.

Simply put, someone needs to un**** Steve Spagnuolo as soon as possible.

What more do you need to see from a singular player absolutely SKULL ****ING YOUR SCHEME TO DEATH before you take a moment and say hmm, Probably should help out on this guy?

****ing hell this was excruciating to watch due to just pure stupidity.

Chiefs have now lost to every single AFC contender.

They beat up on the losers of the AFC West and NFC Least. Beat the Packers without Rodgers. Spags defense has been bad this year against all the top teams.

Thanks George. You rock.

IMHO: Spags screwed everyone in the Chiefs' organization and every fan in Chiefs' Kingdom today. That's an impressive feat for a 62 yr old man. Hell, that's an impressive feat for any man.

He's witnessed weeks of other teams scheming to keep Hill suppressed. And yet he can't do anything but leave Ward on an island... allowing a rookie receiver 266 receiving yards and 3 TDs. Thornhill is our most athletic safety. He should have been rolled out there to help and force someone else from the Bengals to make a play. Spags did NOT do his job today. Extremely disappointing and painfully unimpressive. But the Donks are up next. Gotta move forward. Go Chiefs!

Some, ahem, "questionable officiating" in that one, too George. Not a great example today.

Thank you George! And Happy New Year!

Horrible defensive game by the Chiefs. Reminded me of the first 8 games of the season. And that is disturbing. The defense literally walked it in today. No hussle. It's as if they decided to take this game off now that they have the division locked up.

We deserved to lose this one. Cincy really wanted it, right from the get go. And yes, the refs were horrible and there should be a shitstorm raised by the front office on them. Won't change the outcome, but still this type of mugging shouldn't be allowed by NFL officiating.

So I was wrong about the Chiefs being an average 9-8 team this year. Wrong by two games. They will be an 11-6 team this year and get eliminated in the playoffs. And deservedly so.

Someone send Frank Clark and Sorenson packing. Please.

Exactly why the Chiefs scored on all first four possessions and held onto the lead into the 4th qtr, losing on the last play of the game.
