HI-Boy but you have to get the Junior Doubles not the regular size burgers, the regular is too much meat and bland. The Juniors are plenty of meat and have tons of flavor. Great shakes too.

Yeah, no ****ing shit 5 Guys is better than most. It better ****ing be at $10 a burger. They almost shouldn't be in the discussion just based on that. It's like comparing Taco Bell and an actual Mexican restaurant.

1. Smashburger has real nice size and flavorful burger and good fries and sell beer.

2. Culvers very good too and their pot roast sandwich is excellent as well as their fries and top notch shakes. I just had a banana milk shake last week.

3. Burger King Whopper and Wendy's Dave Single are the two best of the big names.
Tasty, good size so you can taste the burger, plus fresh lettuce tomato onion.

In-and-Out and Five Guys overrated.

McDonald's the worst and getting more shitty by the day.

I don't eat at Checkers, Rally, Sonic, Steak Shack.

Whataburger has horrible dry buns.

Roy Rogers makes a big burger but it is flavorless and tastes like it sat in water.

Never tried Shake Shack but hear it's good.

Also I've heard Dairy Queen has a good burger but takes 15-20 minutes at a minimum from order.

BackYard Burgers is such a tragedy. The one in Independence is still decent but other than that they've all but died.

Five Guys is probably the best, but since there's no drive-thru, it didn't get my vote. A drive-thru is pretty important when you're an old guy with arthritis. Therefore, Culver's gets my vote.

I should really try Culvers now that I live in chain restaurant purgatory.

I tried Freddy's awhile back and while I enjoy that style of burger it was way too dry, so possibly just a bad time of day for them.

And despite having a bad experience at the Whataburger in KC, their green chile burger is pretty darn good at the location near me.

From that list, if they were all lined up on the same street in their current state, I'd probably go Shake Shack based on what I've been able to try.

This right here is true, I'm not much of a true fan of any chain. Don & Millie's is a local one in Omaha and they're pretty much the only one I ever go to.

Give me a Wacko's in Knoxville or Primrose in Corning any day of the week.

I went with Five Guys, but there's a broad ecosystem of burgers and there are different roles that they can fill. I like Wendy's and McDonald's sometimes, and even White Castle. But they're not competing with Five Guys if we're talking taste.

I also have a positive perception of Steak N Shake, though I haven't been to one in years. Are they still (or were they ever) good? I seem to remember liking them.

I'm not familiar with a majority of the places in the poll so maybe there's some magical discovery that awaits me in the future.

Yes. But they are treated like separate chains by their company.

https://www.consumerreports.org/cons...ith-two-names/

"Does fast food chain by any other name smell as… burger-like? Even though Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s now share (almost) the same menu, the same graphic design elements in their branding, and the same parent company, they still retain their original names and there is virtually no geographic overlap of the two brands."
