I'm beginning to think Rich Gannon has a voodoo doll shaped like the Chiefs.

Not to be a major apologist but I imagine that most teams would have traded a third round pick for Roaf after seeing his performance the last few years. And do you really think we would have done much with the 3rd round pick anyway? It baffles me that over the Vermeil era our late round picks have by and large exceeded the performance of our early ones. No Julian Battle type this year though!

I think the point here is ... I know my point is ... Kingless does a poor job in the draft. If he does such a good job of drafting ... then where are all the impact D players we have drafted on the first day these last few years?? And, which side of the ball needs urgent help this year? Yes, every team hit every now and then on a late round pick. But, especially 1st. and 2nd. round pick ought to really help your team.

"apologist" ... I say you are making a great point. Seems the best way CP has used draft picks is to trade them for established players. Yea, he misses every now and then (Welborn) but IMHO he does better trading them (you mentioned Roaf ... Green, etc.)

We need help at CB, LB, and DL ... I will not be disappointed at all if he were to trade picks for proven players coz we do such a poor job of drafting.

Maybe the scouting dept. fault but guess who hired them????

I'm not going to bitch anymore about Peterson trading our 1st round pick for players.

Lord knows he's done better trading than using the pick in the draft.

CP = crappy GM

beside the financial landscape changed at almost the precise time that carl took over. The ability to achieve financial success and relative team parity increased 100x when the NFL change free agency etc to increase parity.

Carl peterson's job is twice as easy as Jack Steadman's was imo
You may call it apples and oranges, but we are still in nearly the same boat, just not very good and not winning playoff games. Sure the enviornment is different, but we still are not winning any playoff games. I guess I don't see the difference, we sucked, we sucked less, we suck again, woo hoo.

Agree with you!

I guess it is all in your purpose for the team. If you see it as entertainment ... then you can be a "homer" and be satisfied with what Kingless has done. If your goal is to celebrate a S.B. victory then there is lots of room to complain.

And, yes, you are right on the money ... not winning a play off game in a dozen years is no better than the Steadman years. Close is okay for horseshoes and handgranades ...

Those of us who have been around since the mid 60's would like to see the Chiefs at least play in another S.B. and soon!!!!

Too bad it wasn't a 2nd rounder instead. We haven't had a decent 2nd round draft pick since Reggie Tongue.
