How much do you blame Alaird Baird ?

Reading from the Star articles , he mentioned no spending cap this season. Therefore , he believed if we brought in some expensive free agent bats then it would reerun the 'new' guys. But the new guys may not pan out !

But I also understand most of the rest of the lineup isn't any better. Indeed, whoever manages has really got his hands tied offensively. At least Schaefer's trying to think of different approaches, even though I'm skeptical of their long-term success. They just need better hitters, period. Or, at least, some of these young hitters to develop soon.

But as I said in the preseason, I look at 2005 as the pitcher development year. Next year is hitter development. Hopefully by 2007 both ends will come together and we'll be competitive.

I do like Schaefer's ideas on the bullpen.

Beltran struggled a lot in his 2nd year, more then a few people thought he might turn out to be a bust. His 2nd year in the big leagues he batted .247 with 7 HR and 44 RBIs in almost 400 at bats. So don't act like Beltran or any other star in this league just came into the majors and were immediate All Stars, because it doesn't work like that. Many people on here have a selective memory about things like this, but it is pretty sad that guys like Teahen, Gotay, Buck, Dejesus, etc. are already considered bums with no potential because they have not made a seamless transition to MLB.

HOW DO YOU KNOW??? Do you have a crystal ball? That is pretty amazing that you have such a good grasp on baseball scouting that you can tell after 11 professional games that Mark Teahen does not have what it takes to be a superstar in this league. Why are you wasting time on this board, you should be the head of a scouting department for some MLB team.

Great to see the Royals have not forgotten how to potentially piss away another game. I have a feeling Kazmir settles down and shuts us out the rest of the way and we give up the lead to lose another one run game.

Couple of the run scoring hits were just some ground balls. He isn't getting shelled or anything...few of them were 0-2 hits. It makes a lot of sense.
